Cirque 35L Backpack
Despite being one of Black Diamond's lightest, the Cirque 35 Backpack boasts enough space for backcountry tours and ski mountaineering missions. Designed for minimalists backcountry skiers and ski mountaineers, the Cirque features only the basics but still retains a full-featured design. It carries skis diagonally or at an A-frame, as well as your helmet, avalanche safety gear, ice axes, and even a climbing rope.
Although streamlined for minimalists, the Cirque still sports innovative technology that doesn't add a whole lot of weight to your back. The SwingArm shoulder straps and stretch waist belt provide active suspension and a streamlined fit. The Cirque is compatible with Black Diamond's AvaLung and SilNylon lid pocket for added safety and capacity when traveling in avalanche terrain.

SO MUCH BACK PAIN
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:
- True to size
I have used this backpack several times in hopes it would get better, but the back support stinks. I use other BD bags for touring and climbing and love them, and I had high hopes for this one, but was left disappointed over and over again. If youre looking for something with good back support - this is not it.

Too big for normal sized ladies
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:
- Runs large
- Size Bought
- SM
- Height
- 5` 5"
- Weight
- 125 lbs
I want to like this pack. It's simple, lightweight, with great ice axe attachment system and ski carry. But I am an average 5'5" woman, 125lb and the hip belt does not get small enough for the load to be carried comfortably around my waist. BD needs to make unisex packs truly unisex, even if that means having three sizes: small, medium, and large. It just goes to show the outdoor industry is still incredibly male dominated. Boo.

Awesome Pack
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I got this pack for ski mountaineering and love it. It has all the room you need and carries a heavier load comfortably. I really like that you can either carry your helmet inside, or if needed, you have an external helmet holder as well. The side access is one of my favorite parts about the pack, as a top loader can sometimes be cumbersome, especially with the variety of gear you have to bring for ski mountaineering. I am always in between sizes with packs, but went with a M/L with this one. I am 5'10'' and have a shortish torso. It is slightly on the bigger side for me, but the smaller size was way to short for me.

Great Pack
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I have been using this pack for the past month here in the Wasatch. It is a great pack. Perfect for a quick hot lap or a full day in the backcountry. Plenty of storage and a great design. I love the waist belt pocket. Its perfect for storing snacks, phone, etc. The draw string entry is fast when the winds are howling and you just want to keep moving. The only negative for me which others have brought up is the A-frame ski carry. It works for my splitboard, but it could be an issue if you have a wide board. A vertical board carry would be a great addition. Overall an awesome pack that has met all of my needs! Would definitely recommend it.

The perfect size pack!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This is the perfect size pack for your weekend in the skin track. It is super light weight and has plenty of room for all of your avy gear, layers, and snacks. It is super light weight and allows you to access your gear with ease. I even use it in the summer as my crag bag!

Great Lightweight Pack
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I'll be using this pack for touring in the wasatch. Took it out for a hike to make sure it was comfortable and dialed in the fit. I have a longer torso at 19"and the m/l fits me great. It's very similar to the previous generation Alias pack but with a better closure system to limit the amount of snow that gets in. It is lacking the top lid like the Alias, but I actually took mine off and never used it. Overall I think this pack will be my go to pack for day tours and ski mountaineering objectives. Love the fact that I have the option between a-frame skis or diagonal carry.

Are the A-Frame loops large enough to carry a splitboard?

I imagine a splitboard would fit Austin. I'll measure when I get a chance.

How does this pack handle wet snow? I'd be concerned that the fabric would let water in...

Phil, I've used this pack quite a bit. When it's super wet outside the bottom does get a bit moist. However, the pack does a good job of keeping water out of the top and the zipper area. Never had any more trouble than I would with any other pack - it's quite waterproof

Splitboards will fit in the A-frame
Ish

Agreed that this is a great pack, however, it will not fit all splitboards via A-frame. My Venture Storm split 162 is too wide and I know several others that are as well.

Does this bag have storage for a 70 M rope and climbing gear?

Unfortunaetely no, this has enough storage for the rope OR climbing gear. But not both. Good question though!

I want to reiterate this point. Great pack, roomy and well designed. But, I am 5'6" and 150lb, and the chest strap, shoulder straps and hip belt all barely fit when tightened as much as possible. If you are petite, I would consider another pack.
