Why We Like The Babsi Edition 9.2 Dry Rope

We tie in with the Babsi Edition 9.2 Dry Rope for gritty inspiration and start up the imposing face. The smooth yet durable sheath feels good against our raw fingertips and holds up against the unforgiving sandstone. Great handling, catches a bit hard

This rope feels and handles great, it does give a little bit of a hard catch.

Sleek in the Creek

I bought this for a trip to Indian Creek and it treated me well. Stretched it out on some massive 40 meter cracks and took my fair share of whips. I cannot even begin to explain how nice it is to have a lightweight rope when you're packing a quad rack up those steep approaches. Very, very satisfied with this rope.

Light but not too thin

It's great to have an 80m meter option to get on some longer new routes.

Great rope!

Great red point rope and easy to use for multipitching. The 80m makes repelling go by quick since it often allows you to link.

Buttery

Stoked on this rope. Bought it for a trip to El Salto. Feels like butter going through the grigri. Love it.

Problems kinking

I’ve had this rope for about a year and a half and have used it a good bit. It’s a very solid rope and has held up nicely for both gym and outdoor climbing use. my biggest complaint is that it tends to kink up pretty bad. at first I thought it was just the way I was packing it but after stretching it out and rolling it up using various techniques nothing changed so i figured maybe it’s the belay device, I’ve now used my ATC, Edelrid giga jul, and a Grigri on it and still getting severely kinked up. so I’ve decided this rope just like to twist up for some reason. if you can learn to work with that and don’t mind running your rope all the way out on a very regular basis then this thing will work great and seems to last very well to the abuse of climbing.

Not very resilient?

Nice supple rope but doesn’t seem to be very resilient. A lot of wear and abrasion after only a few days of use. Maybe I’m just hard on ropes? Took several falls on it, but no falls over sharp edges. Jury is still out on BD ropes for me. I would definitely buy another though. We’ll see.
