    Get deep.

Sitting around discussing metaphors and similes never really was your thing—you'd much rather spend your time slashing powder turns and getting white roomed, as would the Black Crows Meta Ski Pole. Based out of Chamonix, Black Crows designs and builds ski equipment for big mountains, and the Meta is no exception; its sturdy aluminum shaft is made to withstand some abuse, while its contoured rubber grip offers a solid feel in your hand.

Not as strong as I had hoped...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought these hoping to replace my trusty Leki avy-probe combo poles that I have had for 10+ years. I wasn't looking for anything fancy--just some solid poles that I could abuse in the backcountry and maybe use to build a T-anchor if needed. Black Crows poles have a solid reputation, but these are NOT those poles. These bend like butter. I broke one pole after one week of use (fell on it in heavy snow) and the other pole is already bent (I don't know how). I would not trust these poles for long backcountry tours and certainly not to belay off of.

    Solid pole...

Solid pole, with a little flair (I've got the white with orange logos, so not as flashy as the other colors). Poles are sturdy, baskets are big enough for powder days, but not so big for groomer days. Grips are comfy, grippy and angle forward just a bit to make it easier on the wrists. The straps are pretty standard, but solid and enough room for large gloves.

    Pros: Solid, pole

Cons: May have a little too much flair for some (IMO, this is a pro)

    Great deal, great looks

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

First things first, these poles look badass. After thoroughly beating up my old Scott poles for 6 years, I decided it was time to go with a new pair, but I didn't want to break the bank. Let me tell ya, these fit the bill perfectly. I love the grips on them and the powder baskets work perfectly for the deepest of days. Not only that, but the vibrant green goes perfectly with my Navis skis, so you can rock the mountain with functionality and style. Another great product from Black Crows!
