Why We Like BikeYoke Revive Dropper Seatpost

The Revive Dropper Seatpost represents such a different take on dropper post functionality that Bike Yoke may as well have called it the Departureas in, a departure from what we've come to expect. Namely, dropper posts that operate with an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) design, which is used to keep oil and air separate in the hydraulic system. If your dropper has ever inspired trail-side expletives, chances are good that IFP is to blame. It's a notoriously finicky design because of the precise tolerances and hydraulic babysitting required, both of which will often manifest as stuck or outright unresponsive droppers.

The Revive throws off the burdensome IFP yoke in several ways. First, it literally eliminates the IFP. Second, it cuts the number of dynamic seals in half compared to the three most common dropper models, going from four to two. The result is a simpler system that doesn't require the precise tolerances and perfect seals of the typical IFP design, so it just works better because, well, it just works. And it keeps working without the issues inherent in IFP designs gumming up the works.

  • Innovative bike dropper seatpost for reliably high performance on the trail
  • Lack of an IFP (internal floating piston) results in buttery smooth action
  • REVIVE-VALVE makes it a breeze to reset the hydraulic circuit in the post
  • Closed and stable design helps eliminate the hassle of constant maintenance

So far so good, but some notes...

I've used it several times

I got the Revive to replace the stock RockShock/Reverb that comes with the Santa Cruz. The Reverb would consistently get squishy, even after a single ride. Generally a thumbs up. But a few notes for buyers: - It's heavier than the Reverb - Installation isn't trivial, I had to take it to the shop although there are good YouTube how-tos - It's cable not hydraulic so if you're replacing a Reverb, you're also going to need a new trigger I like the feel of the Reverb trigger better than the Revive/BikeYoke. It's not a big deal and I'm sure I'll get used to it, but the way the dropper post engages feels slightly less responsive than the Reverb. With the hydraulic, as you push the trigger there's less resistance as the post releases. In contrast, the Revive trigger doesn't feel like it has a clear release point. I don't feel confident I've pushed hard enough to drop the seat. I got the impression from my LBS that RockShock may be more amenable to repairing the Reverb. After a few months, my Reverb would get squishy and there wasn't a reliable way to fix it. I'd push the bike shop to repair before speeding the $$ to switch it out.

20 hours and multiple marks on stanchion

I've used it several times

Having terrible time dealing with BikeYoke regarding warranty support. Leaving review and contacting all parties involved.

I've put it through the wringer

Works perfect - easy to reset when it starts to sag. Happy with this purchase.
