    Third Degree Foam Pad

Make the campsite more comfortable than ever before with the help of the Big Agnes Third Degree Foam Pad. Made from multi-layered closed-cell EVA foam, the Third Degree employs die-cut sections on the top layer to trap warm air, and then tire tread patterns on the bottom layer to create more cushion. Pair this pad with air chamber pads for additional warmth when sleeping on frozen, snow-covered ground.

    • Closed-cell foam pad provides a warm insulated sleep spot
    • Two layers of EVA foam combine for more warmth and comfort
    • Top die-cut layer traps heat, bottom tread layer adds cushion

    Nice for the size

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Packs up nice once it’s been used a while. Comfy to sit on or fold up a kneel on. It would be better if it folded up easier when new to place on your pack.

    Stay Put All Night

    Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I expected this pad to be just like other traditional closed-cell foam pads and it totally was, BUT one thing I was not expecting was that I never slipped off my mat in the middle of the night! I toss and turn a ton when I sleep and always wake up far away from whatever pad I "tried" sleeping on but this guy made me stay put right where I was! My sleeping bag never slipped off which made for a restful night of sleep without bugging the people next to me in my tent.

    Product damaged by packing tape

    Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I haven't even used this pad yet and it's already been damaged. The packing tape that secured the pad in a roll for shipping ripped off a chunk of its surface in two spots, which will now be extra sensitive to further damage. This does not inspire confidence in its longevity. Not cool, and it would cost me $7 to return it. Lame. I'll be using it for a 4-day camping trip this weekend and will update this review if possible. I'll write a new one if not. Even if it's super comfortable, the pad shouldn't be damaged by removing the tape it ships with. Use a bungee or something instead, please.

    Unexpected Warmth

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times

This is by far my favorite mat I’ve slept on. It keeps you very warm yet it is extremely lightweight being only foam. The material helps keep my sleeping bag from sliding off and it doesn't make all the crunchy sound an air pad would. I was worried how thin the pad is but wow it has exceeded my expectations. Can't even feel if it's in your pack or not!

    Thin and effective

    Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I needed a little bit of extra padding for a camping trip but I didn't want anything too bulky. This pad could fit easily in my duffel bag along with my tent and sleeping bag. The ground under my tent was a bit rocky and I was surprised that the pad did add some cushion so my night was more comfortable.

Saved my butt! And my back!

I slept on the floor with this pad and nothing else but a blanket on top of me. It's so lightweight that I was nervous it wouldn't be great quality, however I was pleasantly surprised to find the cushioning technology to exceed my expectations of comfort and support.

    Exceeds Expectations

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times

I will preface this by noting that I am normally an inflatable pad kind of gal...but that said, I can honestly say this is the most comfortable foam sleeping pad I've ever tried (and I've tried a lot). The foam is soft and thick, but the perforated design means it's still lightweight. I'll definitely be using this under my inflatable pad whenever the temperatures drop, as well as keeping it on hand just in case a friend forgets their own pad on a camping trip.

Big Agnes Third Degree Foam Pad

Engineered for extreme alpine conditions and a great ultralight option for all backcountry adventures.

The green-screen scenes are oddly appropriate- it makes this video as fake and laughable as the temperature rating on this pad.. Seriously Big Agnes, shame on you for putting dangerously and blatantly false temperature ratings on the packaging for this pad. Only the most experienced users will realize that this is NOT a cold weather pad unless you use it in addition to another, more insulated sleeping pad.
