Sunbeam Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Synthetic
With the Big Agnes Sunbeam Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Synthetic you can sleep comfortably on your weekend camping or backpacking trips. It is designed to keep you warm through wet conditions thanks to its water resistant face fabric and lofty synthetic insulation. Additionally, the Sunbeam is designed to stretch to accommodate your 20 to 25in sleeping pad to keep your sleeping kit secure throughout the night for added warmth. The bag is designed to keep you comfortable down to 15 degrees Fahrenheit, but for added warmth, interior fabric loops attach a sleeping bag liner if you plan on being in slightly colder temperatures.
Aside from warmth, the Sunbeam has additional features for comfort and convenience. For starters, it has an anti-snag zipper for a smooth and quick zip. A Free Range Hood and foot box allow you to lift your head and wiggle your feet respectively. Additionally, a pillow barn keeps your pillow secure throughout the night even when you're tossing and turning and an internal hood drawcord provides you with a secure and comfortable fit when its cinched. Finally, when it's time to move camp, the whole bag compresses down small into a stuff sack for convenient transport.

Bag does not retain any heat
- I've used it several times
- True to size
- Size Bought
- 5` 4"
- 125 lbs
This bag was comfortable with some nice features (pillow holder, pockets, comfy) - however, it doesn't meet the 15 degree temperature rating at all and, in my opinion, is dangerously misrepresented. The description states you can attach the sleeping pad into the sleeve to keep it secure and for "additional warmth." However, it turns out the bag is actually missing a full section of insulation on the back (didn't realize this until I used it). The sleeping pad MUST be attached to retain any heat whatsoever. The sleeping pad I already owned was too big for the sleeve so I slept on top of it as normal and woke up shaking from the cold on a night in the mid/high 30s (well over the 15 degree rating of this bag). On a subsequent (luckily warmer) night I did manage to attach the pad into the sleeve but was still cold. The only night I slept warm was when I lined the bag with multiple down coats, used sweatshirts/flannels as a blanket, and wore multiple pairs of socks. None of the temperatures I used this bag in went below the mid-30s and the bag itself never kept me warm. If you buy this bag be aware you MUST have a sleeping pad of the right size to fit into it, probably a particularly well insulated one, and most likely a sleeping bag liner as well, which all drives the price up to a point where you might as well buy a different bag. I appreciate the design of keeping your sleeping pad secure by attaching it to your bag, but a sleeping pad cannot be a requirement for a bag to meet its temperature rating (imagine if your sleeping pad pops in the middle of a trip). Calling this a 15 degree rated bag is misleading and dangerous. Again, this bag itself retains virtually no heat due to missing a full section of insulation on the back. All that being said, I really appreciate Backcountry customer service working with me to return this bag given these issues even though it was used and outside of the return window!

roomie with space to snuggle my 20# dog
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- True to size
- Size Bought
- 5` 5"
- 130 lbs
As someone who is new to buying nicer camping gear, this was a huge upgrade for me. It pairs amazing with the big agnes pad which fits beautifully in the sleeve. As someone who turns a lot in my sleep, this was great for improving my sleep when backpacking. It was roomie and extremely warm on a 20 degree night. My little 20# dog even fits inside to snuggle with me at night. I would highly recommend this purchase!

Thought it would be an improvement
- I've used it several times
I had a Sierra Designs winter bag for 23 years and thought it was time to upgrade to something a little lighter, warmer, and more modern. While I like that the Big Agnes bag integrates my sleeping pad, I would say that there are a few smaller design features that are a miss. First, I can’t seem to zip up the sleeping bag from the inside, so I have to reach my arm out of the face hole to get to it. Second, the drawstring to close the hood is like this, too. Instead of grabbing the string from inside the bag, I have to reach to the outside to cinch it. Then, the release is small and it take a bit to find it. I slept chilly in the bag on a 20 degree night and warmed up by adding a Kelly Bestie on the inside. It packs well enough and has other good features like the unattached foot and head areas.

Love this! Fit small
I bought this to have a warm well fit sleeping bag. I am 5'4" and got the petit. It fit well except if I wanted to put anything else in the sleeping bag. So I exchanged it for a regular. It has a bit more room in the bottom so I can store clothes etc for the next day so they aren't too cold to put on. The only thing I don't like is that the insulation isn't on the back of the sleeping bag. It is thin so that it requires you to buy one of their sleeping pads. Which are the only pads that fit these bags. Smart business move though. But sucks for those of us who like to miss match gear that we like.
