Scout 2 Platinum Tent

With the Scout 2 Platinum Tent from Big Agnes nothing will slow you down—especially not weight. At 1lb 1oz, the Scout unburdens your pack so you can fit a few extra layers for quick-changing alpine conditions. If the sky does open up, no worries, the silicone treated external material beads and moves moisture down and off the tent so you stay bone-dry in your lightweight shelter. Plus, there's plenty of space inside for you and a backcountry buddy to play rummy while the storm passes in spring, summer, or fall.

The Scout 2 incorporates trekking poles as the main frame for backpacking minimalists. That, coupled with the pre-cut guylines, makes set-up quick and seamless so you can spend less time organizing camp and more time watching the sunset over that alpine lake or sandstone tower. The single-wall design also incorporates 3-D bin pockets to help organize climbing or backpacking gear before and after heading out for your next project or trek.

Great lightweight 2 person tent

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Not the easiest tent to set up single handed but it works great and very light for the volume. I was concerned about the single wall construction but after days of heavy downpours, no wetting through. Room for two and a condo for one and gear.

Not the tent for me.

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

After using a Zpacks Duplex for over a year, I moved to this trekking pole tent thinking it would be a lighter alternative. It is slightly lighter, but that is the only positive for me. Setup is easy, but upon first setup, I noticed the back tie outs were not secured properly so if I had been on trail trying to set my tent up, I would have had to stop everything and secure these. Not a fan of the one door design, but that's a personal preference and I knew in advance it had only one door. The zipper snags on the tent material and I already have a rip on the interior zipper guard, so that's nice. I'm also not at all confident how this tent will work in the rain as the material that forms the pocket with the side screens cannot be properly fully closed. All in all, I intend to return. I love Big Agnes, but I definitely do not love this tent.
