    Five star sleeping.

Your dirtbag lifestyle may not bring you to many five star establishments, but honestly who needs overpriced, tourist traps when the Big Agnes Q-Core SLX Insulated Sleeping Pad adds a heavy dose of luxury to your camping experience. Made with a ripstop nylon and TPU laminate, the Q-Core is a rough and tumble mat with a minimalist design that keeps its weight to a minimum in all of the available sizes.

A layer of synthetic insulation works hand-in-hand with the cozy, quilted top to deliver top-shelf comfort when temperatures down to fifteen degrees, which makes this pad ideal for everything from early spring ski tours and summer backpacking at high elevations, to late fall trips to the desert. The pad inflates quickly thanks to a high-volume valve that can be adjusted to the perfect firmness with a micro-adjust, air pressure button. Additionally, the Q-Core SLX is equipped with an antimicrobial treatment to reduce odor buildup.

Comfortable and compact but not warm

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I disagree with the 15F rating. I start to get cold in any temps below freezing. If it will be below 40 then I am going to consider adding a foam pad. That said, it is EXTREMELY comfortable, packs down small, and is very light.

    Awesome pad!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I stole this pad from my husband and then had to purchase a Big agnes pad for myself! He's been using this pad for a couple of years and it has held up great. It packs down small, it's lightweight and the insulation is nice for cold nights. It does take me a while to blow up, so I got the Pump House to speed things up. However, packing this one up is faster then my AXL air because of the two valve system.

    Great sleeping pad!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I ordered this sleeping pad for my multiple camping trips coming up this summer. I tried it for the first time this past weekend during a car camping trip. The mat comes in a stuff sack that rolls down decently small and isn't overly heavy. I was using a 30litre pack for this trip and was able to put it inside with the rest of my clothes no problem. The weather was cool during the trip, but I was never cold while sleeping on the mat. It rained 2/3 nights and dropped to around 3 degrees Celsius (37 degrees Fahrenheit), the mat also never deflated. I blew it up on the first night and didn't have to touch it until we left. I did have to use my mouth to blow it up which took probably 10 minutes, I will be purchasing the Big Agnes Pumphouse Ultra stuff sack/pump to save my lungs on my next trip. The pad also deflates super fast and the valves lay basically flush so you don't feel them when you're sleeping.

    Upgrade

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Upgraded to this sleeping pad after sleeping on my Thermarest foam pad for years. Had no idea what I was missing out on! I can't wait to climb into my sleeping bag at night to rest in luxury atop this glorious cloud. Lightweight and durable material, easy to inflate, and keeps a good layer of insulation between you and the ground. Great product!

    Sleeping like a baby

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I can't believe I waited so long to trade-in my Thermarest foam pad! I'm a side sleeper and this pad takes my sleeping game to the next level. I've never been so comfortable and well-rested after a camping trip.

Big Agnes - great customer service!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This pad was working wonderfully, but after 6-8 times use this summer it started to leak overnight and would be mostly flat by morning. Slow leak and I couldn't find any holes to patch. Sent directly back to Big Agnes, and they shipped out a new unit the same week. Great customer service and I'm hoping no issues again (not sure if I popped the bag, or if manufacturers defect?)

    Cushy (but cold)

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Being a little older than the average Backcountry customer, to me a good night’s sleep in the backcountry relies to a large extent on a comfortable sleeping pad. The BA Q-Core SLX Insulated is my pad of choice for warmer temperature backpacking trips. The 4 inch thickness comfortably accommodates my need to sleep on my side, the I-beam construction helps to keep me from rolling off sideways, and the air valves just plain work. Weighing in at a little over 18 oz (including stuff sack) on my scale, the Q-Core is not ultralight but I’ll take a couple of extra ounces for a good night’s sleep. The size regular works adequately for my 6’2” 175 lb frame (I don’t want the extra weight of the larger size). An added bonus – in my experience the noise factor is less than pads made by that other leading brand.

The downside (and it’s not insignificant) is that this pad sleeps cold in temperatures below maybe 35 degrees F. For a pad which is advertised as “insulated” this is a bit surprising. On colder nights I can actually feel the cold creeping up through this thing and sucking the warmth out of me. It's interesting BA doesn't provide an R-value rating for this pad, but the 15F temperature rating is misleading according to my experience ... hmmm...

The BA Q-Core is outstanding for warm weather adventures, and I highly recommend it if the 18 oz weight doesn’t put you off. Just don’t be fooled by the word “Insulated” in the description.

    BEST pad!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am so happy I decided to go with Big Agnes for my camping needs! I have my sleeping bag, sleeping pads and tent from them and I love them all. I have this sleeping pad in the petite size and it works perfectly with my petite Roxy Ann sleeping bag, my husband also has one in size Wide long and it fits his Big Agnes lost ranger long x wide sleeping bag well! We are always toasty warm and comfortable with this sleeping pads! Super happy with the purchase. It is really easy to blow up and deflate!

    Excellent Pad

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Came to write a review on this pad after a full summer of use, but realized this pad is already super highly reviewed. +1 to all the other reviewers saying this is a great piece of equipment. Light, compact, super comfortable, list goes on... I've been using on some light and fast adventures and thus went with the smallest/lightest variant. No complaints or durability concerns thus far.

You are going to Love this Pad!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

After using a more traditional ultra-lite pad for years. I recently upgraded to this BA pad. Even before using the pad, I appreciate the selection of sizes available, so I can dial in the exact pad that fits my body and sleeping patterns. This pad is weights under a pound, it's amazingly thick, doesn't sound like a potato chip bag and will inspire envy in all of your tentmates.
You can't go wrong with this pad.

Will never cheat on this pad w/ another

Clocking in at four inches thick, under a pound, compact and durable? Can’t be real....but it is. This piece of gear will help you get off the couch and stop complaining about sleeping problems, being too cold or having to use the aspirin for your back the next day. Always keeps me warm by itself ( but always use a foam pad with any inflatable in the winter) and has held up for the past year in all seasons and surfaces. No more bruised hips from thin pads, and it’s not crinkly or loud. You get your moneys worth and them some. Even enjoy the feel of the fabric.

Will never cheat on this pad w/ another

Will never cheat on this pad w/ another

I’ve had this pad for about a year now and would choose it again without thinking twice. It is very light, very compact especially for its fabric durability and thickness, and an unheard of 4 inches thick! Yes, FOUR INCHES. At less than a pound for the regular size. I never worry about being too cold, or bruising my hips from the ground, or being uncomfortable for any reason pad related. In the winter, like any inflatable pad, you are going to want to put a foam pad underneath to insulate you from snow or frozen ground. Other than that, you’re solid and will never have to worry about this bad little package of lime green comfort. No issues with the inflate/deflate valves, and it holds up against thought California granite .you get your money’s worth with this pad and will be very happy . I have heard someone say they wished it was wider as it comes in at 20 inches , but I’m good.

        Love BA pads

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Have only used this 2 nights but its very comfortable and warm. Packs up very small. I have always appreciated that Big Agnes stuff sacks are a little bigger than needed which makes packing up much easier. Really like the newer valve style, faster inflate and deflating. Cant speak to longevity, but as its a lightweight air mattress I don't expect it to be very durable and plan on being careful with it.

        Didn’t Last

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my first big Agnes Pad. It lasted about 15 nights. No holes no damage, just stopped holding air. I am going though warranty right now and I will see how that goes. But unless you want to be sleeping on the cold ground halfway through a trip I don’t recommend it.
My wife has had three pads by them bought one and has had it replaced on warranty twice. They are very comfortable and work well with the intergrated sleeping system but the quality is questionable for the price.

        Love this sleeping pad

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have used a thermarest for the last 3 years and honestly thought that i just wouldn’t sleep well camping/backpacking ever. I roll off the pad, sleep on my side and belly and would wake up achy. My husband has the core q and loves it. When i found this version on sale I bought it. It is a truly amazing change in the quality of my sleep now. I have used this on 3 backpacking trips since its purchase and I will never go back to a thermarest. The side rails are perfect so i dont roll off my pad, the width is enough to where i can sleep on my side without my shoulders hurting. Would definitely recommend this product. Paxks down to the same size as my old thermarest

Small in the Backpack, Yet Comfortable

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought the long and wide version of this pad, and ohhhhhhhhhhh man its like the easy boy of sleeping pads. A lazy-boy that fits into the palm of your hand, that is. Packed up, this thing is tiny at about 12x2, but its still really comfortable all blown up. Definitely pick this one up if you are looking for a new pad!

        Simple functional and comfortable

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

For the longest time (5 years) I had a heavy thin camping pad that certainly did the trick but, it was time to upgrade and I am very glad I upgraded to the q-core. I decided to purchase this pad versus others due to the tough material it is made of and its insulation. I don't always sleep in a tent and I feel comfortable putting this on the ground with a light ground sheet without it ripping. The insulation allows me to sleep comfortably on the shoulder seasons without loosing too much heat to the ground. Big Agnes put simplistic technology in this pad without compromising weight or comfort but producing an extremely functional pad for any outdoor pursuit.

Long and wide for ultimate comfort

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I live outdoors and travel full time. All of my favorite pastimes require top gear with low weight. This pad has been a great upgrade for me. It is smaller than a 1L nalgene when packed away, weighs next to nothing, and the added insulation makes for a cozy night of sleep through all seasons (with the right sleeping bag). Years ago I had a down insulated Exped pad that was great until it started leaking air from a seam during a winter camping trip. I was scared away from air pads and have been using a Thermarest trail pro for a while, but I hated that it did not compress much. I am also a die hard side sleeper so the Thermarest never quite made it to 5 stars for me. This is where the Big Agnes saves the day. It seems much more durable than my old Exped pad, saves a ton of space in any bag, and provides a very comfortable sleep surface.

As a person who always wants comfort, quality, price tag, and weight to be intersect I highly recommend this pad. You should also get the pump house ultra! It helps blow this thing up in no time. It also steals the show by moonlighting as a dry bag, stuff sack, and outdoor shower. Cant go wrong with multi purpose gear!

Is there a pump bag that would work with inflating this sleeping pad?

Hey Michael - Big Agnes makes a pump bag called the 'Pumphouse' that will work with this Q-Core SLX Sleeping Pad. Unfortunately we do not sell it but you can get it from them directly. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.
