This pad is a little bit on the heavy side for an ultralight backpacking pad, but as a side sleeper, the comfort is absolutely worth it for me. In my opinion, this a perfect intermediate pad for someone who has been using a very cheap Klymit or Thermarest Z Lite foam pad. It offers far superior comfort and R-Value compared to those sub-$50 options but doesn't break the bank. I highly recommend this to people who want a huge step up from base level pads without breaking the bank. I have read reviews about the insulation detaching from the inside of the pad, but I have had no issues after a few uses. Big Agnes is a trustworthy company and I imagine the warranty would cover that no questions asked. But I haven't had reason to find out yet.

Achy Breaky back

Familiarity:

I'm relatively young and my experience sleeping on this pad feels like it's added some years on me. The vertical tube shape is not comfortable, very stiff. I put in less air to make it bearable. I have made it work for a few trips but I am definitely on the market to replace it. It's also not very warm. Thankfully I got it on sale so it isn't too much of a loss. Don't pay full price for this. It works but it's not ideal for maximum comfort in the backcountry.

Metal Man

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
20 & 24" regular length
Height:
5' 6"
Weight:
160

I have both the regular 20" and wide 24" regular length. I like the 24" width, because I can lay on my back and my elbows are on the pad. With the 20" wide pad they tend to slide off the sides and drop to the ground & that is annoying. The valving arrangement works great and using the Pump House Pump bag worked fairly well (big improvement over blowing your brains out). Deflation went well. I think for the van I'll use the foam pad, as it doesn't "bounce" as much. Got them both on sale so the price was tolerable.
