Good, Light, Easy to Deflate & Pack
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:
- True to size
- Size Bought
- 20 & 24" regular length
- Height
- 5` 6"
- Weight
- 160 lbs
I like the 24" wide version better, as it doesn't feel like you are ready to fall off if not centered. Buying it on sale made the price more reasonable. Suggest you buy the bag/devise to fill it up, as it worked fairly well. Comfortable but seemed "bouncy".

Dirt clings, maybe durable, great value

We got the regular size of this pad on sale for $50 which is an absolute steal. The pros for this pad are how easy it is to inflate and the inflation and deflation mechanisms, the height of the pad for the weight, and how much it compresses down when deflated. The downsides? Every possible dust particle or hair clings to this pad. It also seems very thin compared to something like the Nemo astro. We camp with dogs so we will see if it can withstand doggy paws. Overall very happy with the purchase as we will be doing some longer backpacking trips this summer.

Roasty Toasty!
I was looking for a pad to keep me warm on a longer trip to Bryce Canyon this fall. This pad did the trick! Easy to inflate, and the baffles were very comfortable for a side sleeper. Was a little worried about staying warm, but with the high R value on this bad boy, I was warm and cozy well into the teens!

Dreamy!

Loved everything about it. I have used it on several cold nights 30-35 degrees and the insulation performed! I didn't have any issues of my bag slipping off and around during the night. Quick to inflate, quick to pack up, small enough to save room in my pack. I have found my pad!

Passed the Test

I've taken over 25 trips to Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and experienced numerous sleeping pad failures. My latest trip using the Big Agnes insulated Air Core Sleeping Pad was not one of them. We don't baby our gear. We count on it to be rugged and dependable. My new pad was easy to inflate and deflate, kept me warm and comfortable and never left me lying on the ground in the middle of the night. I paired the pad with a new Big Agnes Thunderhead sleeping bag and was never more comfortable under difficult conditions. Thanks for a great product!

Not as advertised.

When I saw this pad I thought I had finally found the one I had been looking for. Sure it is a little heavier than most of the therm-a-rest pads, but at that price I felt it was worth a few extra ounces. The fact that there was no R value made this pad hard to compare to others, but in the description it says that it is good down to 15 degrees. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. After a couple of chilly nights I was confused and went to the Big Agnes website. THIS PAD IS ONLY RATED TO 32 DEGREES. I returned this pad and have informed Backcountry a couple of times and as yet they have not updated the stats on the web site.

Thanks Laurel. Yeah I agree; it's obnoxious that the R-value (arguably the most important tech spec for a sleeping pad in cold temps) is not listed anywhere on the site. Attention Backcountry.com: please add this simple number to the website tech specs.

Amazing!
- Familiarity:

I've used this sleeping pad on several occasions and it is by far my favorite sleeping pad. Its not difficult to inflate, the insulation provides warmth on cold nights and the width when inflated creates an incredibly comfortable place to sleep on any terrain. Stuff size is small and compact leaving plenty of room in your pack for your other gear. Would highly recommend.

Warm and comfortable
I used this pad for some spring camping in cold temperatures and it kept me nice and warm. It was fairly easy to inflate and didn't deflate at all throughout the night. However, I found the vertical baffles to be a bit awkward and, as an active sleeper, I slid off a lot throughout the night. I think it would be perfect with a compatible Big Agnes bag, but I was unfortunately not using one and slid all over the place.

Comfortable pad that comes with a repair kit. It suggests to use the Pumphouse Ultra to inflate it, which I will purchasing soon. You can inflate by mouth, but I have weak lungs so it was kind of difficult for me. I paired this pad with the Daisy Mae sleeping bag, which was great because it holds the pad in place so I don't roll off. It gives good comfortable support and as a side sleeper I don't touch the ground.

Good Sleeping Pad
- Familiarity:

Like many others have noted it can kind of slide you around as a side-sleeper. However, I think the construction of this pad is awesome. Feels super durable and sturdy, and it seems great for 3 seasons. It blows up pretty quickly even by mount (just make sure you don't have the deflate valve open lol). I am about 6,3 and the Long Model worked great for me.

So warm. So comfy.

This pad is awesome. I recently brought this pad to the dessert where the night temps dropped down between the high teens to the 20s. It was cold. With this pad, I had a warm and toasty sleep and I was so happy. It is surprisingly easy to inflate and deflate. The only downside is that I am a active sleeper and the crinkling sound got to be quite annoying for my friend. The warm sleep is worth it though!

Comfy and warm.

When sleeping on frozen ground, the pad makes all the difference. This pad did just the trick for a snowy winter camping trip. It was super comfortable and kept the cold at bay all night long. I blew it up once and it lasted for 4 nights without needing more air, which was quite surprising in single digit weather. I have slept on many a sleeping pad, and let me tell you, this thing is comfortable. I never felt the ground, even when rolling on to my side. Words don’t do it justice, try it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed.

This pad seems like it is made from very durable materials. It is comfortable, but I am not totally sold on the vertical baffles. I think they make slide sleeping a little awkward. Overall this is a light, warm, and durable pad option.

Vertical baffles?
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I am a side sleeper and thought that the pad kind of roles around me when I was sleeping on it. I like a firm bag so having the pump to really push every last bit of air I could into the pad is always good. It isn't the lightest of pads, but it isn't the heaviest either! The insulated pad is really nice for those chilly nights. I did a comfy 30 degree night in this in my car and it faired well. Overall I like this pad. Solid and seems pretty durable. And it is pretty slick that it fits with their own bags.

sleep like royalty
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
After lugging around a huge sleeping pad, I finally broke down and bought a pad better for backpacking. I bought the petite version (I needed it for a trip ASAP and that was available), I am 5' 6", my feet hang off the end a little bit, but not too noticable. I was more concerned with falling off the side of the pad since it is only 20" wide, but I have not had any issues. When this is packed down, it is about the size of a 32 oz. nalgene bottle. the ONLY thing I do not like about this pad, and this may just be because of the sleeping bag that I use, when I roll around at night, it is very loud.

I've used BA sleeping pads for years and the Air Core is yet another impressive offering from the mother of all comfort. Filling without a pump was not a chore, though I wish I had one to try! Perfectly comfortable down to about 40 degrees, the Insulated Air Core will fit most folks 3-season needs. If you're looking to fully upgrade your sleep system, pair this pad with any of Big Anges' new sleeping bags for complete integration of pad+bag. Packing and rolling is a breeze, but it isn't the smallest 3-season pad out there. If you're counting grams and every bit of space counts, then I'd consider the Q-Core SLX.

Get the air pump!
- Familiarity:

Loved this pad, but now I'm sad because it means I have to upgrade from my last one. The dump value is so effective and makes rolling it up a breeze. But the pump sack it freaking awesome! I filled the pad up with like, 3 or 4 bag fulls. It was really easy and the bag rolls down and snaps shuts, so you can use the bag for a million other things too.

Fit for a King

I had an earlier model of this pad, and took care of it for 4 years. However, one fateful day in Havasupai it was washed away in a flash flood. I knew that I'd buy another, and in a couple weeks I was blowing up my new Big Agnes with the new quick inflate/deflate valve. There is a one way air intake with a mico adjust valve for finding that perfect pressure, and a seperate dump valve to quickly deflate and stash your pad when you need to bail off the mountain. I've used it down to the mid-20's (fahrenheit) and the insulation kept me perfectly cozy. I'm 6'2

Perfect pad

This sleeping pad keeps me warm on the coldest of nights. I'm sure the sleeping bag helps ;) but truly I have never had a complaint about it. It holds it's air through the night with ease. Packs down to a great size and hasn't had a hole in it for a year of heavy use. Love it.

Best Gound mat I’ve every used
Compact, light, and warm. This air mat is the best I’ve ever used. Make sure to to purchase the “pump house” from big Agnes to blow this up.
