Stronger, lighter, and roomier than ever.
Realizing that most tents are either heavy-duty or feathery-light and fragile, the backcountry gurus at Big Agnes set out to shave weight while reinforcing structural integrity and increasing usable head space with their ingenious Copper Spur HV UL series of tents. The Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL4 Tent is a 3-season, 4-person tent that maximizes interior roominess, reduces carrying weight, and boosts tent strength for uncompromising dependability and sleeping comfort.
The Copper Spur HV features a higher volume pole architecture that creates steeper walls for greater head space. More head space makes camping with friends and family more comfortable, also creating more usable space when you're playing cards at night or waiting out a storm. Double ripstop nylon makes it approximately 20% stronger than previous versions, ensuring it's tough enough to withstand repeated trips into the wilderness. Two-tone mesh panels allow for privacy while ventilating the interior and facilitating unobstructed stargazing at night.
The included fly and tent floor feature a silicone treatment for outstanding waterproofing in wet environments. All seams are fully sealed with waterproof polyurethane tape, ensuring outside moisture doesn't seep inside and dampen your camping experience. It can even be set-up with a fast-pitch option during balmy summertime weather for low-bulk carrying convenience. Please note, you'll have to purchase a separate footprint for the fast-pitch option. The tent includes a weatherproof fly, DAC Featherlight NFL Poles, 10 J-stakes, guy lines, and stuff sacks.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
A snap to set up! I love the steep walls and ample headroom. The dome lights are a welcome treat after blinding the ever patient tent mate with a headlamp countless times. Vestibules are roomy enough for all our gear. And at just under 4 lbs, it feels like backpacking luxury.
Tent for 6?
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
We began backpacking with our 4 young kids a little over a year ago. Obviously a 6-person backpacking tent isn't easy to come by so we measured it out on the floor and thought we could fit. We were right. With our 4 kids all in BA's Little Red Bags, and a little Tetris skills, we had plenty of room for us all. (see pic). The double door and vestibule provided plenty of room for our packs and stuff outside. A sub-7lbs tent for a family of 6 to sleep in in the backcountry? Booya.
The ceiling isn't car-camping tent height but plenty high to make you feel like you have room in the backcountry. LOVE the stash pockets everywhere. Easy setup and take down. Uses traditional tube-style sack for storage.
Steep walls are nice. Rain fly works well and the entire setup stands up to wind and rain well. Haven't had any crazy hard wind yet but it's been pretty rigid in the wind we have experienced so far.
It's held up to the abuse we've put on it with 4 kids so far over the last year and a half and the many trips we've taken in it.
