Copper Spur HV UL3 MtnGLO Tent

The Big Agnes Copper Spur UL 3 mtnGlo Tent brings convenient LED lighting to the backcountry. Patent-pending mtnGlo tent light technology brightens the interior evenly so you don't have to play cards or sort gear with one glaring beam hanging up top. You can power the LED lighting by any USB power source, and the included controller requires AAA batteries. Big Agnes built the Copper Spur UL 3 mtnGlo Tent's body out of burly-and-light ripstop fabric, and it made the fly and floor out of fully taped, PU-coated fabric for reliable, long-lasting weather protection. Large mesh panels offer sufficient ventilation in summer's warmer weather, and two doors, two vestibules, and multiple pockets offer complete camping convenience.

    • Tent with lights built in keeps your nights illuminated
    • Tough, waterproof polyester withstands long nights in the elements
    • LED light strand is integrated into seams for durability and flex
    • Two doors and two vestibules open up space and ventilation
    • Poles are uber-lightweight and extra tough
    • Guylines and stakes included for easy setup
    • Item #BAG00BA

    Excellent tent

I have used this only twice but really like it. I see why it sets the standard. On my second trip with it we awoke to some serious heavy rain. There was at least one inch of standing water outside the tent, but the inside was dry. We had no issues. It's simple to put up and take down and very light. The lights are nice bonus but really were not bright enough for when you are really looking for something inside so be sure to have others. You will love it.

Copper Spur3 UL HV vs Dagger3

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Ryan is fantastic! I always read the reviews, but rarely post one unless I'm really frustrated. This is not the case and I felt compelled to write this review simply because the service was fantastic. With Ryan's vast knowledge of both the products and the outdoors....and his patience, I was able to determine what gear I needed; in addition to trying to figure out which tent was best for me. It came down to the BA copper spur hv lv 3 vs the nemo dagger 3p. I ended up going with the BA because the doors are bigger, it vents better, has more places to hold stuff and more storage in general. I went for the one with the lights simply becuase I liked the color of the tent better than the other options. I Haven't tried the lights yet, but seems pretty cool. The dagger 3p felt smaller although I suspect the materials are slightly more durable. I highly recommend Ryan and the staff at backcountry.com because of knowledge they share and because the prices are competitive or better.

      Luxurious, Light, and Lights!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

It used to be that in the world of backpacking shelters you could either have a lightweight tent that sacrificed features, durability, ventilation, and weatherproofing, or you could have an 8lb fortress that would take up half of your backpack. Not anymore! You can now have a sub-4lb tent that is double walled, has a usable vestibule, abundant interior space and lighting! Big Agnes improved on a tent that already seemed perfect. Sitting in this tent it feels incredibly spacious with the 25% increase in usable area in the upper part of the tent over the previous model. For a two-person shelter having the extra shoulder room can make a world of difference for sitting up in the tent, stuffing sleeping bags or changing. I also love not having to sleep w/ my headlamp around my neck. The lights don't interfere with packing the tent down and seem quite durable. Another bonus are the tent pockets that are positioned to be above the user's head when lying down. I can listen to my favorite podcasts as I fall asleep without having to worry about damaging my headphones or getting my phone wet on the tent floor. There is not a tent on the market that exceeds across the board like the Copper Spur does in usable space, weight, weatherproofing, features, and warranty. This tent is a 10/10!
