Copper Spur HV UL2 Bikepack Tent

The Copper Spur collection consists of the lightest tents from Big Agnes, and the Copper Spur HV UL2 Bikepack Tent is specialized for off-road, two-wheeled travels. This tent's main difference from all the other Copper Spurs is the Shortstik Poleset, which features DAC Featherlite NSL poles that break down into shorter sections to fit on handlebars, inside panniers, or stashed in saddlebags. Other differences include a 3D shelf for storing helmets, external webbing loops for hanging wet clothes, and an oversized footprint (not included) to keep dirt off your gear. Apart from that, it's the same ultralight tent that minimalist backpackers have admired for years.

A silicone treated nylon fly and floor with fully taped seams keeps wet weather out when you're hunkered down for the night, while steep walls increases space without adding bulk to maximize space within the tent. The DAC aluminum Featherlite poles keep the trail weight under three pounds for comfort when you're logging long miles on a daily basis.

I've used it several times

I borrowed this tent for three nights on a backpacking trip because I didn’t have one small enough to put in my pack and I absolutely loved it. It’s so easy to fit in your pack, it’s so easy to set up and take down, and it held up really well in a terrible rain storm. I was a little stressed because it is so small doesn’t seem like it would be that durable but I was wrong and I didn’t get a drop of water in my tent. I used the two person just for myself because I wanted room for my pack and I also like sleeping like a starfish and it was honestly a perfect size. I think you could fit two non- starfish sleepers in here with two packs no problem but I didn’t mind carrying the extra weight for a better night of sleep. I think when my current tent bites the dust or I get to the point of doing enough backpacking trips that I can warrant purchasing my own tent that packs up small this will be the one I get. I don’t feel like I was sacrificing anything where it sheds on Weight and size. I also like that the fly is removable (as it is on most tents but my current one has a built in fly making it hard to see stars on a clear night).

Light and feature-packed

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this almost a month ago to use for both backpacking and bikepacking, and finally got to test it out hiking the East side of Mt. St. Helens. The tent is light, easy to set up, and has an abundance of internal storage options for gear. My friend and I set up camp just inside the treeline on the mountain, and temps got down to about 34F or so at night, with a fairly strong wind. The extra guy lines really helped keep the rain fly from flapping in the wind. I'd definitely recommend getting the footprint as well. Having the extra protection for the tent bottom plus the vestibule space it creates is worth it (especially with all the small sharp rocks underneath!). Hoping to take it bikepacking soon as well, but when tested it fits perfectly on both the handlebars and inside the frame triangle. Very happy with the tent so far.

Thanks for your review Jason!
