No markings?

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just got this rope today and stoked to use it! The weight of this rope will make it so much easier to carry up Granite Peak this fall. However, the specs say that there should be markings every 12m but the one I received doesn't have any markings at all...

I just had our warehouse folks check and you're totally right about the lack of markings. We'll get that description corrected. Apologies on that. I'm also your personal gearhead so feel free to email or call me if I can help ameliorate that disappointment!

nice rope, abrades easily

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

the sheath of this rope abrades under body weight with a petzl tibloc or microtraction. still psyched to use it for alpine climbing and glacier travel, but caveat emptor.

Tibloc, Traxion, and ropeman 1/2 devices aren't really that sheath friendly IMO. CT roll n lock works well with the Rando and caught a few follow falls without damage, YMMV.

great ski-mountaineering rope

I've put it through the wringer

Awesome rope for light alpine adventures. Great for getting on belay to cut a cornice or dig a pit. No brainer for glacier travel. Also great for mellow alpine ridges where fall potential is minimal but a few rappel might be encountered. Love it.

Do i need to buy two ropes for glacier travel?

Ming, For glacial travel, one rope is sufficient. If you plan on doing any rappelling or lead climbing, two ropes are more beneficial for absorbing impact forces and making longer rappels. Shoot me an email anytime you have questions! Jared D. Expert Gearhead 801.736.4336
