Bought this as a gift for my wife. She is always cold but doesn't want to look like the Michelin Man. This is a great choice for someone looking for a stylish jacket but also gets cold easily. She said her favorite things about the coat are the sleeves that have cuffs.
Odd fit, DWR treat/not waterproof
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I am returning this coat after trying it on for fit only. It's beautiful and soft and so warm, what a shame! It has more of a city preppy look than an explorer look. I am 5'6 - 132 lbs -measurements are 38/29/39. The top of my body and my arms fit great in this coat even with a sweater on (which really according to the size chart for S the top of my body should not fit in this coat) but my hips definitely do not fit in that size S, it causes the coat to climb up and gets all boxy and not tapered and feminine. Even with the button at the back bottom opened and the bottom zip unzipped up. Also unlike the previous version of the Wingate, the new one is only DWR treat. I live in Portland, Oregon so I need waterproof like the previous Wingate was.
For full disclosure, I ordered the previous version of the Basin Range Wingate on Steep and Cheap and the smallest size available was Medium which according to the size chart and review should have fit me but I am gutted to have to return that coat. I so badly wanted to love the previous Wingage but it's huge. I swim in it, even after reading the size chart and all the reviews, even with my 32 DDD... The sleeve are way too long causing the fabric on the upper arm to bunch up. It looks nothing like the picture. The hood is nicer on the newer model in that it can be better adjusted in the back and the system to cinch the waist is also better on the newer Wingate than on its predecessor. So I guess the Wingate sizing is still odd from the previous model and onto the new model unless you are much narrower at the bottom than you are up top then go for it!

Is this jacket waterproof?
Hey Nathalie, This coat has a DWR treatment and it's a pretty thick/durable fabric but it has not been tested as a rainproof jacket.
