    Vegan Delight

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Pad Thai is a go-to dish at home and this backpacking meal is a good backcountry substitute. Obviously it's not going to be as good as fresh ingredients, but when I dig into this after a long day on the trail I let out a sigh of satisfaction. The trick I've found is to make sure you stir up all the spices immediately after you add water, and be patient - crunchy rice noodles are a disappointment.

Huge bonus - this dish is vegan!

Can't wait to try this flavor

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Backpackers Pantry can't be beat, love (nearly) all of their meal options, maybe one or two I don't usually buy. My go-to for adventure foods. Anyway I just found out they have Pad Thai now, and I can't wait to get on the trail so I can enjoy the many packets I just bought...

    10/10 The most delicious

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the best freeze dried meal I have ever had, and I have had a few. I love this meal so much I have made it at home when I didn't wann go to the grocery store...10/10 would reccomend

    Great backpacking meal

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Normally I am not a big fan of these freeze dried meals but the flavor of this one makes it worth it. All the different flavors and spices as well as the different textures make this a very enjoyable meal.

    Tastiest prepackage meal I've had

I'm not sure I know anyone who really considers prepackaged meals to be the most amazing food. That being said when you do go in on some meals it's nice to get something you really like. Pad Thai is my favorite food and a couple of these on a long weekend really hit the spot when I didn't prepare meals.

      Tasty!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Tasty on the trail and easy to prepare - I usually give dishes like these (the ones with noodles or pasta) an extra couple of minutes - same with this one. and it turned out great. Even though the package says two servings, I think if you are out backpacking you are not going to want to share! I also find that while on the trail I'm drinking so much water that the higher sodium content doesn't really bother me. If you're packing into a bear container, you can cut the excess packaging off to save space and cram it all in there.

      DE-LISH

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Super hard to find vegan dehydrated food for treks and even more, ones that are good. But when I found this... I felt like I found something I can rely on. I love Pad Thai and craving exotic foods on trail seems mandatory for some reason, so I got this for a trip, and it was pretty dang good. Great flavor, actually, and a large serving size.

Now, I stock up on these guys. Very good.

      Yummy!

Flavor packed meal, filling, enough for two! I added extra chili flakes and was completely satisfied. If you like Asian food, you won't be disappointed. I didn't have any problems with crunchy noodles. Also, I brought extra pbu but didn't use it-it was tasty as is and I didn't want to lose the other favors to the pbu.

        Almost restaurant quality

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

For better or worse, i think i've had equal quality pad thai in a restaurant! It could be because of poor restaurant choice or just being cold, tired and hungry...

If you like Pad Thai, you won't be let down. Its very good. Enough to share as well with this one.

        Delicious.

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This meal is a favorite for my buddies and myself, especially, if you are burning a ton of calories on your trip.... This meal can easily feed two or one very hungry person. It is tasty and doesn't get boring halfway through. I say buy a dozen of em'! You will want to use a little less water and commit to the full time give or take 10 mins... that way you are avoiding Pad Thai soup Al Dente.

        Pad Thai for the WIN!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This pad thai is easily comparable to the pad thai offered at Noodles & Co! After a long day of hiking I wasn't about to share this meal, but had it been a short day hike, this would be the perfect amount for two people. I used a little less water than directed and let it set for about 5 more minutes, the noodles were still a little crunchy, but everything else was perfect!

        good

used it for a breakfast on the AT, good to have the peanut butter and the peanuts on the top. Does need at least 15 mins for noodles to "cook". As a gross after use result, definitely "cleaned" out the "system"

          Noodles a little crunchy

Tried out this product tonight and can't complain about the taste. The peanuts added an awesome crunch to this dish. The only drawback is that even after letting the food reconsitute for 20+ minutes, the noodles were still slightly crunchy. Not too big of deal, and it could probably be fixed by added just a little more boiling water halfway through the required "waiting period."

As was mentioned with previous reviews, adding a little extra peanut butter would make this even better.

            Delish!

As far as dehydrated meals go, the Pad Thai definitely rates in my top 5. The flavor is spot-on and it even comes with a little package of crushed peanuts that can be added to finish off the meal (don't eat the peanuts separately... plastic bag be damned, you can tell taste that they've been sitting in dehydrated PadThai noodles).

Just a few notes: The package calls for 2.25 cups of water, but use just over 2 cups (2.05?) unless you want Pad Thai soup. Also, the package comes with peanut butter that is added along with the water, but it is too small an amount for an ingredient that is responsible for 80% of the flavor in this package. You might want to bring a little extra PB to make this just right. I added 1 extra single-serving peanut butter packet from the cafeteria at work the second time I made this and it tasted INFINITELY better.
