    Skintrack Glove

For our touring collection, we wanted a glove specifically for the skin track, so we teamed up with Black Diamond to make the Backcountry x Black Diamond Skin Track Glove. Its lightweight softshell material breathes so your hands don’t overheat on the way up, and a four-way stretch grants the utmost dexterity. We added a water-resistant treatment to shed snowfall and light moisture to keep your hands comfortably dry. Touchscreen compatibility lets you take photos, send a text, and use your phone on the skin track.

The Skin Track works seamlessly with all other products in our touring collection, especially the Backcountry x Black Diamond Hot Lap Glove. While the Skin Track’s light, performance-oriented fabric gives that special touch of comfortable protection on the uphill, the Hot Lap provides the heavy-duty waterproofing and warm, fleecy insulation required for the downhill. One glove for going up; one glove for riding down.

    Amazing gloves!

I got these gloves for the skin track, and they have been awesome! My hands tend to run a little warm, so these are perfect. I always have low expectations for the touch screen finger pads, but these ones work surprisingly well. I typically wear size small gloves, and these fit perfectly - not bulky, but not so tight they are hard to get on and off. I can switch over my set up from uphill to down hill, get in my pack, and take photos without having to take off the gloves. The DWR treatment works awesome, I can confidently put hands in the snow and not have to worry about them getting wet.
The color is a littler lighter than true black.

      Great Gloves!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have used these on a few dawn patrols and they are all they claim to be. The temps have been in the low teens and for the uphill my hands stayed very warm! Unfortunately the size I picked up (large) is to big for me and do not give me the most comfortable glove. I will b exchanging for a size medium and I believe they will then get a 5 star review.

      Like a glove!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

With my hands right between xlg and lg, I've had issues with gloves all my life. These fit me perfectly. Wrist is secure and finger length is right on. Perfect for honestly what I got them for, morning ice scraping and driving. Only issue is that the black I ordered is actually a grey, but I can live with that.

      A little too big

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I tested these gloves out on an uptrack at Brighton, during a sunny 30 F degree day. I liked how light these gloves were, as they allowed my hands to breathe but broke the light wind and protected them from UV rays.
However, I ultimately returned them, as an L was too big for me! I do like the gloves though

Is this glove meant as a liner for the Hot Lap glove?

      Best Answer

      Hi Iain,

Thanks for your question. It is not meant to be a liner - the Skintrack glove is meant to be used on its own as a lightweight glove for touring uphill (or during other highly-aerobic activities). When we asked our Gearheads what kind of gloves they used for touring they said it wasn't one pair of gloves, it was two - one for the uphill and one for the downhill - so one pair stays dry and warm for downhill, the other can get sweaty and breathe during exertion.
