Part of Backcountry's touring collection, this jacket was designed with input from Backcountry Gearheads looking for a solution to the backcountry skier's eternal struggle: staying warm without overheating. To solve the dilemma, the BC Touring jacket features stretchy, super breathable panels at the back and underarm areas and 60 grams of synthetic insulation at the core, allowing moisture to escape while we're working hard on the steeps, but trapping in precious warmth during transitions on chilly summits.

I'd been eyeing a similar (but way more expensive) jacket at Arcteryx so when I saw this was on sale, I figured 'why not?'. I couldn't be happier! This is the perfect jacket to layer over my base layer - I wear it for climbing, skiing, hanging out around the city for social distancing activities... it's perfect, and fits easily under my down/shell layers. And the hood actually fits over my climbing helmet, which surprised me! Sleeves are not super tight (and I have fairly large arms), but definitely on the slimmer end. I wouldn't layer more than one long sleeve base layer under it probably. I like the size I ordered though, bc it is compact enough around my body to keep me warm without being constricting.

I love this jacket! I own a more expensive arc jacket and I actually prefer wearing this over it any day! I summited Kings Peak with this being my only jacket I brought and it kept me warm and dry the whole time. This jacket gets used from sleeping in a hammock to skiing to scrapping my car off in the mornings. It seriously is a Utah four seasons jacket! I sized up so it gives me the option to layer, pockets are lined so you don't have to worry about your hands getting cold. I hike one to two days a week with it and have no complaints. Highly recommend.

I absolutely love this jacket. It is super comfortable and fits very well. I often find jackets that stick out oddly around my backside which is unflattering in photos. This one hugs the curves perfectly. I will say that the one very odd thing is that the wrist is extremely tight. I have very tiny wrists, like I struggle to find a bracelet that doesn?t fall off my hand so it?s very surprising to find the jacket wrist so tight. It was pretty much unwearable for me, but fortunately I?m handy with a seam ripper. I broke the seam and cut the elastic. Problem solved. Would?ve had 5 stars if not for the wrist issue as I know not everyone would be willing to rip into a new jacket.
