    This thing is huge!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

For the price why would you buy Patagonia when you have this thing! It’s huge, the backpack straps were a really awesome added bonus when I found out out how easy they were to take off and put on. They really put thought into this bag to make it last a life time! Well done backcountry

    I love this thing!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the nicest duffel ive ever owned. Its made of VERY solid/durable material, has tons of space, and the right amount of pockets to stay organized. Im also really stoked that I can wear it like a backpack. Everyone should own one of these bad boys

    The Mary Poppins Duffel

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    Super surprised about this pack!
This duffel not only fit a weekends worth of clothes for 2 adults and 2 kids, but it also fit our sleeping pads, headlamps, shoes, hammock, and 2 kid sleeping bags and odd and ends, I was pretty surprised at how much I could get in the duffel. Having the duffel come with the backpack option definitely helps soo much when taking it camping, and even as a carry on for traveling. Great durable lasting material, that I feel will last for a good chunk of time. I would definitely recommend this duffel to anyone and everyone!

    the perfect duffel

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

i purchased the 40L and 60L. one for day and short domestic trips and the other for entended overseas journeys. being able to access the gear in such an easy way without digging into a backpack and having the side storage for dirty or wet clothes ALONG with being able to just throw the bag on a boat without a worry of rain is so appealing to me. most people that “backpack” around the world aren’t really backpacking, they are taking transport from place to place and these bags are ideal. tough, weather resistant and easy to carry around and throw on a boat, an overhead storage or an uber in colombia. if you can’t fit your stuff in it, you’ve overpacked!

    Awesome Duffel

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I really love this duffel. Compares really well to the Patagonia Black Hole. Extremely roomy to fit all of your gear in, Shoulder straps are available to carry the bag on your back, and the material on the outside keeps moisture and dirt out!

    Solid bag. great price.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Gave this as a gift and got great reviews. Super durable and spacious, plus the backpack straps are convenient if your hands are full.

    Travel Dream

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Durable, lots of room, easy to carry, extra pockets where you need them but not so many that things get lost. What more could you need in a duffel bag? The backpack straps are still comfortable when fully loaded and it's not so large that you can't carry it fully loaded with the single strap.

    Must Have

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This duffel is perfect for travel and camping. I recently used it road tripping through southern Spain. I was able to pack everything I needed for a two-week trip and it fit in the overhead so I didn't need to check it. The backpack straps make it perfect for walking through the airport. The fabric is super durable and withstands the elements. The side pocket is super deep and there are internal pockets to keep all the little things organized. I love the teal color too!

    Amazing Duffel

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I really love this duffel it is made of durable material and love repping the goat. I used it to fit all my camping gear for a trip (sleeping bag, tent, sleeping pad, and everything else I needed) and it fit easily. I loved that this duffel had a compartment for wet clothes/shoes which is one of my favorite things to have in a duffel to keep things clean and organized. I also really liked having the option to wear the duffel as a backpack to make lugging everything around so much more convenient.

    Duffle for everything

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This bag has replaced my Patagonia black hole that I used for everything. The construction of it is extremely durable and super water resistant making it perfect with ski gear. The waterproof compartment is perfect for ski boots or other wet gear and the shoulder straps are padded for comfort while running through the airport. Lots is straps to cinch it down and the gear loops are a plus so you can clip things to it. I’ve only used this bag a couple times but so far I’ve been really happy with it.

    LOVE THIS BAG

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this bag primarily for my snowboard gear to and from the hill. It fits everything I need in it, including my boots. Its material is durable and good to set outside on the snow or dirt. It's got a bunch of different ways to carry the bag. Its been perfect for what I need it for!

    Has it all

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've taken this duffel out on the road foe weeks, lugged it through the airport and packet it full of all the camp essentials for a quick trip. The book end zipper pockets have been a really useful for separating dirty or wet clothes from the rest of the bag. On top of it all, the cinching points make is easy to keep everything locked in place while tossing it around and using it as a backpack.

    Great Duffel

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This bag is awesome to have around for storage and travel. Its not as burly as something like the North Face Basecamp Duffel but its still one of the burliest bags you'll likely pickup. 60L is great for my uses and I may end up picking up some more of these guys.

    Awesome Bag!!

I loved the different features for this bag in comparison to others. The compartments are what made the difference to me, being able to put some wet swim trunks in one waterproof pouch is awesome and the space for shoes are awesome as well!

      Awesome bag!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I love this bag. It is very similar to the Trekker 60L, but more water resistant which is huge for me as it carries my snowboard boots, goggles x2, gloves x2, tuning kit, shoes, plus room for more. I have one for climbing, snowboarding, and as a standard travel duffel. Plus it doubles as a backpack!! Highly recommended

      Burley Bag!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great bag of sturdy build. Love the waterproofing and the different carrying options. Also like the gear lips you can clip things too. I feel like it's going to last me a lifetime

      Best Bag Ever

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Out of all the bags I've had, this one fits all my gear the best! I bought this one to fit all my snowboard gear in for a quick getaway on a powder day. I can fit 2 pair of gloves, 2 goggles (with 2 extra lenses), sunglasses, beanies, face masks, my snowboard boots, and any other misc. things I may need. Plus it's the perfect size for a carry on for the airplane. I'll be buying 3 or 4 more of these for all my camera/climbing/camp gear as well! Highly recommended.

      Best gear hauling travel companion!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I’ve had several different brands of heavy duty duffels and this one from Backcountry really does blend all the great feautures of the best gear bags out there. It’s functional, it looks great, and it’s durable. I’ve found the backpack straps and carry on many bags to be a bit awkward , and you end feeling like you’re carrying a box on your back, but not with this bag. The straps adjust easily and it fits well, and I generally prefer carrying it backpack style through airports. I also really like the exterior waterproof pockets, that are great for wet snowboard boots, dirty socks, or hiking boots. Overall a great bag!

What are the biggest differences between this and the 60L Backcountry trekker duffel?

      Hey Mike,

      We made three improvements:

      1) The shoulder hardware on the backpack straps changed from plastic to metal

      2) we reinforced the stitching on the backpack straps

      3) we added a small pull-tab to the velcro handle closure to make it easier to under

Other than that it's got the same great features and materials

      Ben

What are the odds this 60L bag will run into issues as a carry on? Can I pack light and be ok? It’s considerably bigger than the Black Hole 60L. Headed to Central America on Delta during the rainy season and really would love the extra space. I’m skiplagging the flight back so I can’t risk getting it checked on. Plus, I’d much rather have the 60L for future trips, car camping, etc. Help!

Hey Nate, this is technically over the limit for most airlines but it is "squishable" so it will fit in an overhead bin if the bag isn't overstuffed. I would check with your airline to ensure you won't be turned away.

Will this fit under the seat on an airplane? I like not worrying about where my carry-on can go...
