    Stellar!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This bag was a great anything and everything bag! Used it to pack for a week long trip, small enough to use as a gym bag, and yet easy to carry around. The pockets inside on the flap are larger and wider than the other bags I have. Cannot say enough great things about this bag.

    An Adventure Necessity!

An adventure necessity! Designed by Gearheads with functionality, durability and style in mind, this duffel is a combination of all our favorite features from the leading bags on the market. The removable backpack straps are simple to adjust, making even the heaviest loads an ease to carry and three internal pockets help keep your gear organized. What drew me to Utah was the desert and this bag held up beautifully in the rugged, rocky terrain. What’s impressing me now is the DWR finish and water-resistant side pocket (perfect for stowing hiking or ski boots) that are making this the ideal bag for taking on my first winter in the Wasatch range.”

      Great Travel/Weekend Bag

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Backcountry Trekker 60L is a great bag. My favorite part of the bag is the secondary compartment. It's great for stuffing your dirty clothes or shoes. I was able to stick a pair of hiking and dress shoes in the compartment. No issues using this as a carry-on. No issues with durability, I've used this for quick overnight trips. I'm not sure if this will be replacing my blackhole as my favorite bag but a solid buy!

Big enough to be filled with big shoes?

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Up until my recent purchase of this duffel I had been using the same duffel bag since day glow colors were originally cool. Though I retired it from airline duty a number of years back due to a failed zipper that bag served me well and I found myself reluctantly tossing out my beloved bug out bag in the garbage.
This bag had very big shoes to fill in a number of ways and I have been very pleased. Not sure where the emotional attachment came from with my old bag but I can already tell that the Trekker 60L duffel and I are going to be good friends.
It's hard to put a price on having your riding essentials, helmet, shoes, gloves, and quick change of riding clothes on the ready and all in one place to make riding at a moments notice all too convenient.
The backpack straps make wheeling your bike to the garage while bring all those necessaries you have stowed away in your pack back into the back .40 acres so easy. No more fiddling with keys and the garage door opener as those over the shoulder duffel holders allow one hand one the bike and one hand on your tools for garage and or house entry.
So many little pockets too and a nice dedicated helmet/shoe pocket too.
Yes as you can see I am quite taken with this pack in the short few months of engagement. We shall see if it stands the test of time as the honey moon phase wanes.

      So far so good

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just picked this bag up, compared to the BlackHole 60L it looks a lot bigger. Similarly, it has the mesh pockets on the opening, which is perfect for smaller items that easily sink to the bottom of the bag. Like others have said, the secondary end compartment is pretty big, but I think it will be perfect for separating the dirty clothes from clean items. Or toss in smelly running shoes. The cinch straps are well designed, I like how it doesn’t go over the opening so everything is still accessible. Can’t wait to put this through the wringer!

      Great Upgrade

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great upgrade from the traditional duffel. I wanted one with the backpack straps as I'm often carrying multiple bags with three young children. This makes it much easier to haul around, and it's quite comfortable. I also love the separate pocket with the expandable liner into the main pocket. I mostly use it for dirty clothes. At the beginning of the trip everything is in the main area, and I can move it to the other area that expands into the main area throughout the trip to keep dirty clothes separate.
The material seems heavy duty, and like it will last a while. It's a great bag.

      Love this thing.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

October was my month of travelling and this thing was with me every weekend. From Montana to Utah to Idaho, it carried my clothes and gear and was super easy to use. The backpack straps were amazing when I had to haul the duffel around, and the zippered end compartment was great when I had to store dirty clothes while on trips. It made storage and organization easy to use. Mesh pockets in the main compartment and a zippered compartment on the other end of the bag were great for toiletries and phone chargers, I would definitely recommend this duffel bag for any weekend warrior.

      Good duffel

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The back seat of my car was looking like a dorm room with my shoes, clothes, and gear scattered all over it. Enter the duffel and making room for passengers is easy. I like the fact that I can throw it in the back of my truck and not worry about light rain, snow, or dust. Looks good too.

      Great quality and super durable

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This bag has made our trips easier. Plenty of room, the quality is great and it feels like it's designed to last. I didn't think I'd care about the backpack straps, but having a child in tow, they definitely free up hands for more important things.

      Great bag for travel

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Trekker 60L is a great duffel for when you need more space than for just a weekend trip. I recently used this on a 5 day trip and it had plenty of space, plus some to spare. There are plenty of pockets to help you keep the smaller items easy to find. The large internal pocket is great for storing wet/used and smelly clothing or an extra pair of shoes while keeping the rest of your gear clean. At first I thought the compression straps were not needed but after using them they are very useful. If your bag isn't full and you're using the backpack straps then definitely use the compression straps and the bag will be much more comfortable on your back plus everything in your pack won't move to the bottom of it. The material had been durable so far and I expect this duffel to last me for years of heavy use.

I've used this as a carry on but I do think it may be larger than carry on size. It seems quite a bit larger than my 60L Black Hole that I have traveled with in the past. I flew Southwest and had no issues with it as carry on. If my bag was full it may have been an issue. You can remove the backpack straps if you do use this as a checked bag to make sure it doesn't get hung up on the conveyor belts.

Best Duffel bag I have owned

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the best duffel bag I have ever owned. Its built heavy duty and durable and l love the pockets on it and how they can expand as needed inside the bag.

      Versatile & Durable

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Perfect for a weekend in the desert or a trip to the city. The separate, internal pocket is great for wet gear, dirty laundry, shoes, or whatever it is you want to keep separate from the rest of your clothes/gear. The internal zip pockets are great for toiletries, cables, and other small items. The stash pocket on the outside is also great for items you need to access quickly. Love the backpack straps, which allow you to treat this duffel as a pack, which is ideal when using this for travel. Only used once, and wasn't as stoked on the black marks all over the bag after a single flight, but they seemed to rub off fairly easily for the most part. Bought the 60L, but could easily get away with the 40L for shorter weekend trips. Prefer the 60L for camping or trips that require you to bring more gear.

      Practical, Versatile Gearbag

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've been enjoying the outdoors for most of my life, and over the past two decades, I've had a bunch of different gearbags or duffels. I particularly enjoy the water-resistant internal pocket because I'm forever putting damp running togs or a swimming kit into my bag after exercise, and I really don't like getting my other clothes dirty in the process. So big win on that! Other than that, it seems robust enough for my everyday needs, and I really like the color treatment and straps etc.

      I love this bag almost.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have or have used almost every duffel on our site. Backcountry did a great job by taking the best of all bags and combining them into one bag. I only wish they would have included a few more features and left out some others. For me the best part of this bag is that it looks really cool, I love carry the GOAT through the airport or on camping trips. Areas that it could be improved are: including a handle on the sides of the duffel, similar to the Transporter from Osprey or the Long Hauler from Marmot. I also feel like the pocket on the bottom is useful but too large, if you look at the picture on our site of the bag when it is opened from the top you can see exactly what I'm talking about, it takes up almost half of the capacity of the internal storage. The compression straps are a nice touch, most other duffels don't include that feature. Carrying it as a backpack is comfortable and the straps feel good. I've had no issues with durability. I also feel like this duffel in the 60L is a lot larger than my Patagonia Black Hole Duffel in 60L. We've gotten away with loading our Black Hole 60L full and still been able to cram it into the way too small overhead bins of airplanes but I feel like trying to get away with this one as a carry-on would never cut it.

      Lacking durability/not for air travel

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So I bought this for my study abroad semester, in hopes that it would be of similar quality and function to TNF Base Camp Duffel. Initially I loved the size, look, and plethora of pockets. Loaded it up with a weeks worth of clothes and gear (weighed around 35 lbs) and used it as my checked bag. When I got off the plane I was very disappointed to find a large gash in the side of the bag. Another thing I noticed was that after carrying the bag using the backpack straps for only a little while, they had already started to rip out of the casing on the straps. So I will be returning this bag and purchasing a TNF duffel instead. Was initially excited to be supporting Backcountry and their own line of products, but this one was a serious disappointment. Did not even survive one trip through baggage handling. It needs to be beefed up and increased durability, certainly not suited for travel by plane.

      Lacking durability/not for air travel

Hey Philip, this is your Gearhead Zack here. I sent you an email a few weeks ago in hopes we could connect and hopefully resolve this for you. I'm so sorry you've been experiencing the quality issues you have with your new duffel. Give me a call or shoot me an email when you get a chance so we can rectify this for you : )

      Pretty neat

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Well built, easy to pack, straps are intuitive. Very similar to the Patagonia black hole, but with more features like a shoe/dirty clothes compartment and side zipper.

      Amazing!

Love all the pockets that fit everything you would need for any adventure. Great size, comfortable fit straps, you can carry on your shoulders like a backpack or in your hand. LOVE this bag! We will be buying a couple more.

How much does the duffel weigh?
