Runs two sizes small

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: xxl
  • Height: 5'11"
  • Weight: 250lbs

It lifts and separates if you know what I mean. Snug, muscle supportive fit I guess but you best be in shape.

Comfy but slim.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XXL
  • Height: 6'2"
  • Weight: 225lbs

Super comfy and has a slim fit. I'd recommend going a size up. Generally I wear XL, but it would have been skin tight if I had. I have another Backcountry shirt in XL that I only wear working out. I'd be embarrassed to wear it for daily use.

Punches well above its weight

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium
  • Height: 5'10"
  • Weight: 175lbs

5'10" 40" chest, 32" waist, medium

I don't know who's designing Backcountry's new line of apparel, but they are crushing it. I have a pair of their Empire bike shorts, a Goat t-shirt, and two of these and couldn't be happier. The fit, fabric, and construction has been excellent on everything. My favorite jacket is an Immersion Bonded Wool that I've had since 2014, so I believe in their quality.

The medium in these reminds me of large Solomon t-shirts, or medium slim-fit Patagonia. This is hard to beat for 30$, and I'd definitely consider picking up more.

Great active shirt!

I love this shirt. The first time I wore it, I kept it on for three days straight in the desert. It's the most comfortable and breathable material. Perfect shirt for trail running, hiking or climbing. I'm definitely going to get another in a different color just so people don't notice I'm wearing it three days straight next time. But you could really wear this type of shirt every day for most activities and be stoked on the choice!

I'm impressed by this shirt. It offers the softness of a casual tee, but with the performance of a tech tee. It is by far one of the softest tech tees I own, I would compare it in feel to an item from the Patagonia Nine Trails line, but without the scratchy itch and chafing of 100% polyester on longer, warmer days on the move. Backcountry took a bunch of polyester but blended it with Lyocell and Spandex which feels softer and comfier, and moves well with your body. The fit is athletic and slim, which I love, but the stretch is there so movement is unrestricted. Another positive - for me at least - is that it doesn't look like a typical shiny, bright technical piece - it fits right in at home or the brewery as much as it does on the trail.
I recently ran a 50k on a warm Spring desert day and even with a vest on and constant movement for 6 hours, it wicked moisture well and there was not even a hint of chafing or discomfort to report. I just wish I could say the same for the rest of my running kit.
