Great Jacket!!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I received this jacket and used it for 1 hike so far, First, I love this jacket. Super functional for high intensity activities. I live in Colorado and we have alot of days and activities where this jacket is the perfect temperative/activity fit. First, from a fit perspective I agonized between medium and large. I'm 5'8'' 163 lbs. I am not a V shaped guy so was worried an athletic fit medium would be too tight. At the last minute I switched to large and was so glad I did. I was worried the sleeves would be too long, but they were not. I was also concerned it would be a sloppy fit, but it was not. It could not have fit any better. I love everything about this coat so far. The material is soft. It has sufficient warmth, and it has plenty of pockets and vents. Perfect for higher intensity activities. I wore it at 50 degrees, strong cold wind, and moderate uphill hike. I was comfortable going up and down and the wind was not an issue. I could see it in high 20s or up for activities such as snowshoeing or running. Not much below that though. I also plan to use it for layering under a shell for snowboarding. Overall, this was a great addition to my outdoor arsenal.

The fabric is a little more stiff than I expected, but as a cool, wet weather layer, this fits the bill well.

Versatile Shell for Winter Cardio

Familiarity:

I fat bike 3 times a week in the Wasatch Mountains in northern Utah and needed an outer layer that blocked wind and light precipitation effectively but it was an absolute must that it breathe/vent well. After using this for almost the entire winter I have some impressions: 1. It blocks wind and precip while breathing super well 2. It?s super functional. I throw the hood on under my helmet for cold descents and the built in face mask is great in a pinch when the wind picks up. Love the back zipper pocket and being able to zip both ways to vent heat on hard climbs 3. It?s really durable so far even after a few falls, no damage.

Versatile fall/winter tech hoodie

I've used this for over a dozen trail runs ranging from 8-13 miles, with temps from mid-20s to low-40's and varying wind and precipitation conditions. Overall this is a solid piece of gear that is really functional and I have found myself using it more than I expected. This is a key piece in my trail running arsenal and I would highly recommend for the right uses. The Infinium material on the chest, shoulders, upper arms and hood is right where you need it when running with wind and/or light to moderate precipitation. It works as advertised to block wind very effectively and keep out light precipitation. The back, forearms and stomach all have a nice mid-weight fleece with a smooth face, which doesn't block wind or rain (maybe a little) so there's a balance between the features, which I've found to be quite optimal for high-intensity activities like trail running. The kangaroo pouch on the front (which has triple layered material for some extra warmth on your belly) is useful for stashing gloves and phones, with zippers on either side to keep things from falling out. The hem has an elastic draw cord that I've used a lot to open for venting and close for more warmth. I like the longer neck that goes up to your chin for keeping your neck warm (unlike most running jackets that have shorter necks that don't provide sufficient coverage IMO). I haven't used the integrated face mask but I'll try it out as temps drop into the teens and below. The Abyss color is really nice (although I wish there was a matching color option for the Tabernash Infinium Jogger). The zipper on the back (which opens a bit more material for ventilation and getting on/off) is hard to use and I find that it sticks or doesn't open smoothly most of the time. Also, allegedly you can pack this into a small pocket in the back, which I attempted once and it was so tight that I gave up as I didn't want to damage the material (which is fine since I don't plan to pack it in that fashion). The hood is really functional although I wish it had a way to cinch tighter.

Pros: feels good and looks good. High quality fabric and great design. Cons: not very warm or enough wind protection as I wanted. Granted I live in Minnesota and are winters are no joke. I find this to be ideal for 20-30degrees. Any 0 degree windchill goes right through it. That being said it?s nothing a little layering can?t fix. Hope that helps
