I am 6'1" and 185 so I would figure a large would fit me fine. Not so! the vest fits too tight to wear even a midweight shirt underneath and the arm holes are too small. while it does provide warm it does not feel like a 750 fill at all.

Pulling apart at the seams
Caveat, first. I bought this through a discounted outdoor supplier on a whim. Upon receiving it, I thought it was made well and was a perfect layer piece. In fact it was, but today it opened at the seam near the inside tag. It started dumping down, which is a nice quality down, so i sewed it quick and will resew ALL the seams with a serger machine when i have time.

just received vest
I can't understand the other reviews at all. I just opened the box and looked at this vest. This is ridiculous, this is supposed to be a 750-down fill. It feels like 2 pieces of rip stop with nothing in-between. I bought this to replace a 20-year-old Lands’ End 600 down fill that I thought had lost most of its loft after 50 washings or so. My old vest has 20 times the fill that this new one has. I can't believe the total lack of fill. Needless to say, it's on the way back.

Super Warm Vest
I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. The Backcountry Silver Fork 750 Down Vest is one thing above all else: warm. Living in a warm climate down south, I haven't been able to wear this vest yet outdoors without being uncomfortably hot. I tried on a 55 degree day (cold for us), and I was simply miserable. I normally wear size Large in both my North Face and Patagonia jackets, but I took an XL with the Backcountry Silver Fork 750 Down Vest and it was the right choice. The fit is perfect for me and it's comfortable, non restrictive, and the collar feels very good and protective of the neck area. I like the pocket design in that they are placed where you'd intuitively expect them to be and with good depth with enough space for heavily gloved hands. The zippers on them remove the fear of objects accidentally falling out of them during activity. The pocket on the inside left breast is about the size of a CD case so there's space for a phone and/or a pair of gloves. There's also another large pocket on the inside that the entire vest can be stuffed into making it easy to pack tightly. The finish is of something that I would not expect to show dirt very easily. I got the camo color it's easy to match with almost anything other than brown. I think Backcountry's photos are spot on and there were no surprises when I got mine in the mail. I can imagine myself using the product for hiking, travel, and even wearing over a dressier work ensemble to stay warm in a pinch.

A Surprisingly Warm Athletic Fit Vest
I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review Is my personal opinion. Upon opening the package containing the Backcountry Silver Fork 750 Down Vest I can safely state this picture does not give this vest justice. The Black Camo/Black color is amazing. It just works with almost any outfit that I have been able to conjure up for a casual Friday at work, date night, and morning walks by the creek with my pup. I would not consider this a regular fit and would agree with the other reviews that it is a bit on the smaller side. For reference, I generally wear a Large in Patagonia or Arcteryx vests, but I opted for the XL. The Backcountry Silver Fork 750 Down Vest did not disappoint me in this size. The vest will fit you perfectly if you are more on the athletic fit side, meaning slim torso paired with broad shoulders. Considering I've only had this vest for about a month, I can't speak to its long-term durability. However, my initial impressions that it is built to last. The zipper never snags; the stitching is top notch, but as with any new down clothing item, just be prepared to pluck away any runaway feathers. The feel of the vest is something I haven't had the luxury with when wearing some of the more top-tier brands. To be honest, I love the Black Camo/Camo color and fit of the Backcountry Silver Fork 750 Down Vest so much that my intent is to use it for casual outings at work, and weekend day trips. You WILL NOT be disappointed as the accuracy of the description is on point with respect to the features of the jacket.

Great For Cold Climbing Days
I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. First impression of the Backcountry Silver Fork 750 Down Vest out of the box, was really good. The vest looked and felt high quality and was really surprised at how durable the outer layer of the vest felt. Seems like it will hold up really well. All zippers are smooth and do not catch, and all seams are intact and well stitched. I am a medium, and the vest seems true to size. Went on a 3-day Camping/Climbing trip to Joshua Tree National Park this past weekend, and after 3 full days of rock climbing wearing this Vest there are no rips or tears (I do not do a lot of off-width climbs, so I cannot attest to its durability after a full day of those type of routes ha-ha) but I was pleasantly surprised that it lasted through the weekend. The material is tough, warm, light weight and it was quite comfortable! On Climbs I wore just a long sleeve shirt and the vest, and at night I used it as a layer under my other down jacket. Worked great for these applications! A major pro for me, was the left zippered inside pocket. Love this! Nice being able to stuff a camera in there for climbs, as well as using it as a stuff sack, great feature! Only real negative thing about the Backcountry Silver Fork 750 Down Vest would be the color options. Would be nice if there were a few more colors to choose from. The orange was a bit bright for my normal choice (although it was accurate to the picture) but, it did start to grow on me. This vest will be a great addition, and will be coming with me on all future trips.

Exactly as Advertised
I use this vest as a mid layer while skiing. It has nice loft while not being too thick. The down is warm but the lack of sleeves or a hood keep me from overheating. The zipper is a bit light weight, but it should hold up to normal use for years. Overall this is a great choice for a light weight down vest at a reasonable price.

Perfect layering piece
This is the perfect piece for throwing in your pack when you slow down a bit and need to take the edge off or for rocking around town when a big down coat is too much. It compacts really well, which means there is no excuse for leaving it home. To me it seems to run just a bit small so if you're in between sizes, I'd say err on the larger end.

Awesome piece for touring on cold days
If "be bold, start cold" is your motto, this is a great alternative to bulky down jackets on cold dawn patrols. It also looks great over a fleece when wearing it around the town. Great price and simple design, much recommended.

This vest is great. It's cut more for an outer layer than a mid layer, but it's really nice. My dad wears it almost every day.
