    Soften those rugged nights.

There's no sense in setting out for a relaxing early spring camping trip if you're going to be up all night shivering in your old, beat-up synthetic bag. The Backcountry Pluma 15 Degree Down Sleeping bag has you checking "a good night's sleep" off your list of camping needs this year—filled with lofty down insulation rated to 15F, you won't notice even if frost sneaks into your campsite. Unlike your synthetic go-to, this dreamy escape packs down nice and small, so you're free to take it on a backpacking trip or two, and it won't lose its loft no matter how many times you go. On chillier nights you can cinch the draft collar down for cozy comfort, but a full-length zipper makes it just as easy to cool off when the morning sun heats up your tent. Plus, you can rest easier on your trip knowing that you're surrounded by RDS-certified down, meaning those ducks lived a happy life, free from live-plucking or force-feeding.

    Good almost great bag

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Pros: definitely a warm bag with excellent loft. Was in 30 degree weather with long sleeve shirt and lightweight thermal bottoms and was uncomfortably too hot. So, unlike other bags that exaggerate their temperature, this feels pretty spot on. May still have to wear thermals and thick wool socks at 15 degrees, but pretty good.
The storage sack is actually quite large, unlike other bags I have from sierra designs that have storage bags .so small it feels like I have to compress the bags just to fit them. So a bonus that it's easy to put it in the storage sack and not have to compress it at all.
Cons: biggest con is that the zipper is on the left side. I much prefer a right side zipper
zipper was hard to zip up at night in dark. That might be because it was on my left side and I'm right handed, and most other bags I have the zipper snags so it's not just this bag, but with the zipper being so crucial to a sleeping bag you think they would make a decent zipper that can zip up and down smoothly and easily without snagging.
final con, I did notice a plume of down on my pillow after the first night of use, so I hope this doesn't lose down easily.
All in all though, I'm glad I got this bag and will be my go to bag in cold climates.

Great bag for a great price

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Used this bag last week hunting. The lows were in the low 20's and the first night being 7. This bag handled it great. The draft collars both around the upper chest and zipper functioned perfectly.
I'm 5'10 180 and measure around 39inches around the chest and the bag had plenty of room to side, stomach, or lay on my back. With it being slightly longer I was able to pull the bag over my head to really seal in the warmth. I would trust this bag in the high teens and be confident that I would stay warm.
This is a great bag for late fall and winter camping either in your car or a tent.
The only downfall is the stash pocket isn't large enough for modern phones but that's a small thing. I just left mine next to my side it stayed plenty warm.

Like crawling under a wing of momma duck

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

First trip was mid October, high in Utah's Wasatch. We expected lows in the 20's but by the time night one came around there was two feet of glorious snow and single digit temps. With help from a pair thermals, I slept like a baby bird nose first, incubating warmly in momma birds feathery chest fluff. Used a compression sac from another bag to get it extra small since it doesn't come with one. Weight was quite manageable. Great bag.

    Dependable Warmth

This bag is a dependable item that I expect to use 8 months of the year in California in the, and year round if it weren’t for elevation and extreme lows up Shasta or in the Eastern Sierra. I am plenty warm in this bag so far every night, having it since May and sleeping down to 27° temps so far. I am a cold sleeper and have had issues waking up with other bags in the past. It sheds water, is warm, decently packable, and has an okay weight. The hood size is nice, and the feel of the fabric is quality. Roomy footbox and width around the knee area, while still providing a slim and tapered fit. The zipper is hearty and won’t snag. Great pocket near zipper with a primo draft tube you can bank on. Only complaint isn’t a huge one, but wish it picked slightly smaller and was a few ounces lighter. Other color options and zipper side choice will come in the future I’m sure. By no means is an overly large bag when compressed or heavy bag, , but it’s not the lightest nor is it trying to be. I have no problem taking this on a 30 miles weekend. Would give 4.5 stars if I could.

      Dependable Warmth

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Happy with the bag but it didn't come with a stuff sack. Just wondering if they forgot to put it in the box or is it something I have to buy seperatley

      Comfy, warm, and easily transportable!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Very pleased with this bag. High quality design / assembly and very comfortable. Stands up well against other fifteen-degree bags I've used. Packs away very tight, small, and light, making for easy carrying and transportation. I highly recommend it!

I don't see that the down sleeping are listed as being made with responsibly sourced down. If they are not made with ethical materials, why not?
