Seems high quality until 1st wear/wash
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:
- True to size
At first I really liked this top and didn't find it itchy or uncomfortable. However, after wearing and washing it once, it has started to fall apart. The entire shirt pilled on the inside AND outside and the thumb holes are coming apart (see photo). I purchased this at a discount but will never pay for full price on a Backcountry base layer in the future. You're better off paying for Smartwool or REI brand merino wool.

Thick, WELL made, and warm. I run very cold and I have a really hard time finding the right wool layers. I have had two Patagonia base layers rip or fall apart after only a year of use. Opted to try this brand out and was pleasantly surprised! Also the fit is flattering and very comfortable. Really great product

Love the design, but compared to Smartwool products I couldn't bear this against my skin.

What’s the average thickness of the merino fibers for this item? How wide is the spectrum of fiber diameter?

Is this 150, 200, 250 weight? It does not say “mid weight” or “light weight” in the description and it’s hard to tell from the photo

Hey Jamie, we do not have the exact diameter and have requested that information from the factory. The fabric is 240gsm if this helps at all.
