This jacket is attractive, water resistant and lightweight. Unfortunately, mine ripped after only wearing it 3-4 times. Really frustrating and disappointing.

I got this anorak for running in cool / temperate winter weather and I'm absolutely loving it! I find that it responds really well to my body temperature, so I don't overheat while wearing it and it also does a pretty good job keeping the heat in. I am able to wear just a tank underneath, which is nice. I worried it would end up being a sweaty mess by the end of my runs, but thus far it seems quite breathable and I haven't ended up soaked. I love the idea of packing this for hikes or backpacking trips as well as a sun or wind layer as it is super lightweight and packable. Like some other folks have mentioned, I initially thought it was going to be far too small for me to wear comfortably while I was putting it on, but once it's on, it fits really well and I do appreciate the trim fit for running.

Light weight jac

I used it for warm windy days in Death Valley. It is so light weight. The Shark color is darker than the picture, but it is still a beautiful color. I bought both colors, love them all. I wear XS only T-shirt under it. I can layer a sweater under the S. Love the material, style and colors.

I am 5'2" and 116 lbs. Ordered an XS. It fits perfectly and quite stylish as an active wear. I wear it for hiking in west Washington which tends to be cooler most of the time. This works perfectly as it vents well and provides a thin layer.

Best lightweight shell layer

Familiarity:

This is saying a lot because I tend to buy any and all lightweight layers. I've used Outdoor Research, Under Armour, Patagonia, Nike, etc. I like speed hiking and trail running, so pack weight is important, and this shell packs small (into itself with a back pocket), and is very light, while still providing excellent protection. It has a bunch of functionality based design elements, including closed wrist that keeps bugs and rain at bay (but also keep your watch face hidden, which can be a nuisance for people tracking mileage/pace). Since the fabric is so airy, I'm using it for sun protection now during the hot and humid summer months in Tennessee. I would love to see this in an auburn/orange color combination - this could be great to use during hunting season. I am an Honorary Gearhead and was gifted this item by Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion.

Bad experience and poorly sew

Backcountry sent me a wrong item (T-shirt) and then got correct jacket in a week. However, when I wore the 2nd time, I found it's torn near the left kangaroo packet. It's quality does not match with its price.

Lightweight & Durable

This anorak is best described as the essential layer you didn't know you needed. So far it's been perfect for spring and early summer activities. I live in the high desert (Park City, UT) and although it does heat up during the day - it still gets cold every night. I enjoy how lightweight and breathable the material is. I can use it for sun and even a bit of rain protection. I also wore it on a bit of a bushwhack to scramble hike and it held up really well - no tears or anything, which is surprising considering how thin the material is! Cool features I love: - the sleeves comfortably cinch down on your wrists, keeping the elements out and your hands free to move - the hood buttons down to the back of the shell, keeping it from flapping around which is SO NICE when it's windy - back pocket is the perfect size for small items and snacks - said back pocket doubles as a stuff pocket - lightweight and packs down small - well designed venting throughout keeps you cool Things I don't love: - you can't really put anything heavy or bulky in the pockets as it'll pull the material down a lot, however, the heaviest item I usually put in a pocket is my phone. I carry a backpack or hydration vest with me so anything other than a quick snack goes into my pack - it does wrinkle pretty easily Overall, I love this anorak and can't wait to see how it holds up throughout my summer adventures.

Out of the box review

I didn?t notice the back pocket doubles as a stash to pack the jacket into itself so that was a nice surprise! I?m loving the shark color, I?d define it as a purple/grey. It?s definitely cinches in around the booty so be warned. I don?t mind because I don?t have a particularly large butt. I?m usually small/medium and I went with the small. I prefer a snugger fit on my active layers. It?s not completely stretchy but I love how it moves and appreciate that it doesn?t have that telltale swishing noise a lot of shells have. I?m not sure I?d want to be caught in anything but a light drizzle in this thing, but it seems like a well vented windbreaker. I chose this over the full zip version because I wanted that back stash pocket and the front zip makes it super easy to put on and layer. The hood honesty seems a bit useless to me, it?s kind of small, but would be great under a helmet as it?s low profile and it would be held in place better. And I?m stoked on the snap to keep the hood down when I?m not using it. I plan on using this running, hiking, biking and possibly climbing since it seems like a great active piece.

This lightweight anorak is a must have this spring! I typically wear an xs-s and this fit me perfectly in a size small. The fit is great and and allows for movement and flexibility in the right places. I like to hike and mountain bike and will be using this as my go-to lightweight shell this spring/summer. I am also a big fan of the zippered pockets - the back pocket is perfect for stashing my phone, wallet, keys, or anything else I might need to take with me.

Awesome Trail Running Layer

This is a super lightweight and packable windproof/water resistant layer that I'm stoked to finally have in my closet. Other jackets in this category usually come in at a much higher price point, so I'm happy with the quality despite the low price. The features are all very well thought out, and it's packable enough to stuff in my 3L running vest. It sports an active fit, so expect it to run short and slim, but that's exactly how I want this piece to fit.
