My go-to winter pant!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- Small
- Height:
- 5' 2"
- Weight:
- 120
My winter setup involves my smartwool 150 bottom and my normal hiking pants on top. This has served me well over a couple of years although I end up with my legs sometimes still a bit chilly. When I saw these fleece lined pants I figured I'd give them a try. They are all I've worn since getting them back in November. The inside is so soft, although yes, it sheds. Especially with a baselayer underneath. The fit is loose in the legs and allows me to move naturally and freely, which I absolutely love. In the waist I would say it runs a tad large. I got the small and I definitely have extra room, however I'm able to cinch that down with the drawstring. At first, I was having a hard time with the elastic hems because they kept riding up my legs and I'd get rocks, dirt, mud and snow in my boots/socks. I figured out that I can just bring that cuff down over my boots and it's like having a built-in gaiter and IT ROCKS. They stay in place, keep my ankles warm, and absolutely no debris in my boots. I've used these for hiking and snowshoeing in Northern Illinois and they have served me so well. These pants are also perfect for lounging around and I am definitely wanting more pairs so I can have a house pair and an outside pair haha. The only downside to these is that the back pocket is too deep, something I'd never thought I'd say for a pair of women's pants. My phone ends up below my butt and it's a bit awkward. I end up using the back pocket for my knife, and the front for my keys. Bottom line: this is a sick pant that you should def try!

Soft and lightweight BUT...
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

- L

The lining shed. A LOT. Taking the pants off meant vacuuming afterward because fleece went everywhere. I thought it would stop after a wash so I washed on delicate and lined dry. Shedding continued. It was so bad that I had raised beads of pile under the lining. Could not wear. I purchased two pair - one for me and one for daughter. My daughter’s pair did not shed. Hoping this was a fluke. Working with BC to get a store credit now because the pants had been worn. I am fit, tall and the large was a bit loose around the waist. Not a deal breaker, just an FYI.

Liked the concept, not the fit
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- Medium
- Height:

- Weight:
- 142
I really wanted to like these, and had read thru the other reviews on waist/sizing issues.... however, not only is the waist too big, the material in the hip area is baggie and sticks out awkwardly. The material is nice and lining is warm & cozy. Unfortunately though, these are getting returned.

Great cold-weather outdoor pants!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- XXS
- Height:
- 5' 2"
- Weight:
- 100
Unlike other reviewers, I like the fit on these pants. I typically wear 23/24 in women's pants and found size XXS to be true-to-size. Side note: it can be borderline-impossible to find quality/value gear on the small end of the size spectrum, so thanks to Backcountry for including us XXS folks in their line! The elastic waistband has some give, but the drawstring allows for a secure fit. The pants have tons of stretch and allow for flexible movement, and the fleece lining keeps me warm without any extra layers or bulk. The softshell outer doesn't seem as durable as a true alpine softshell, but provides enough water and abrasion resistance to make these my ideal go-to winter climbing pants. I definitely want to snag another pair!

Excellent winter casual, athletic pants
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- XS
- Height:
- 5' 7"
- Weight:
- 127
Loved the pants as soon as I saw them and tried them on. The fleece lining takes off the edge of the cooler winter temperatures. Tested them in low-mid 40s outside and my bare legs didn't feel cold at all. The pockets are also fleece lined, and the stretchy waistband with strings come in handy. I would agree with some of the other reviews, that the pants run slightly large in sizing, but it is really just the waistband. I am 5'7" ft, 127 lbs, and an athlete. I wear a size 0-2 in jeans. For the Kilby pants I ordered size XS and I still need to use the waistband strings to tighten the pants around the waist. The fit around the ankle, thighs, and butt are great and loosely fitted, just as expected. Leg length is also just right. Hoping they are water repellent, resistant as advertised. Will test this feature once we head up to the ski slopes.

Suuuper comfy, sizing a little large
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- S
- Height:
- 5' 7"
- Weight:
- 125
Thought I'd toss in my 2 cents about the sizing: I don't think these pants run large per se, but I'd say go by your usual letter size rather than the size chart and size down if you're between sizes. I usually take an XS or S in bottoms depending on the brand (think XS in Patagonia, S in Arcteryx - 26-27" waist, usually 2-4 in jeans) and went with the S here based on the size chart. The legs fit okaaaay, the waist is pretty gappy and I absolutely have to use the drawstring to keep the pants from falling down. I definitely wish I'd sized down. That being said, these are some of the comfiest pants I've ever owned, and the techy fabric looks totally acceptable in public. I've gotten quite a few compliments despite them being a bit on the baggy side, and I'm stoked to take them out hiking!

Highly Recommend for Winter

They are a little long, but it's great if you like to tuck the pantleg into boots or socks for added warmth. I keep these out of the dryer and just let them air dry, and haven't had the fleece piling issue mentioned in other reviews. All in all, these are an excellent option for being outside in the cold!

Warm Winter Pant
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- M
- Height:
- 5' 5"
I was given this product by Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I was surprised to fall in love with these pants! The fit: I loved the way they looked in the photos on the website, but I am a pretty curvy person with wider hips and sometimes struggle with this jogger style because of that. So I expected to not feel great in the pants. I was excited to find that that wasn?t the case here! The fit is flattering without being super tight. You can have leggings on underneath for added warmth without feeling bulky, but you would rarely need that because the pants are so warm on their own! I read a few reviews saying the fit was off, but I got the size M pants and LOVE how they fit! The material: The inside material is so soft and comfortable! It did take me a couple washes before the fleece like inside stopped pilling, but in my experience that is typical with this material. The outside material does a great job at protecting you from water and grim without soaking in. Of course they are not water proof, but they are durable and resistant enough to be comfortable in adventure situations (see picture of when I took my dogs to a river to play and splashed me a bunch). I have barely taken these pants off since I got them almost 3 weeks ago. I am in love with them! Also they have huge pockets which is always a plus!

Warm winter pants

Excited to have found these pants! I've been looking for a pair of winter hiking pants that give me room to move in. I like that the bottoms cinch because I typically wear gaiters with my boots in the winter. I'm glad these pants have a waist tie because they do run a little large. I'm 5'4 140lbs and got a medium. Love how big the front pockets are!

Weird sizing

I really wanted to like these pants but the fit is so weird. I ordered a small and while it fits perfectly on my thighs and calves the waist has huge gapping that cannot be remedied by the small drawstring.
