Gore-Tex Down Parka
Why We Like It
We're all about exploring the local mountain town after a day of skiing, and for that we need solid winter protection. We made sure that this casual parka combines the best of two worlds, with lightweight lofty down to ward off winter's chillier weather, and reliable waterproof protection in case it snows in the city. Soft baffling lines the interior, keeping valuable body warmth close at hand, and the Gore-Tex membrane pairs nicely with fully sealed seams to guarantee that we stay dry. We gave the jacket a relaxed fit for urban style, and it features a longer length that's much appreciated when spending an extended time on foot.
Benchmark for waterproof, breathable performance
Gore-Tex is a synthetic laminate that features thousands of tiny holes small enough to prevent water droplets from penetrating but large enough to allow water vapor to escape. This combination prevents snow and rain from reaching layers while still allowing hot air and water vapor to escape, managing moisture from external and internal sources.
Lightweight weather protection and breathability
2-layer laminates are ideal for times when you need durable waterproofing but might not require the lightweight construction and higher breathability of a three-layer shell—think all-time powder days at your favorite resort, not grueling backcountry ascents. This type of construction features a waterproof and breathable membrane bonded to a durable face fabric and a free-floating inner lining that protects the membrane from everyday wear and pulls moisture away from layers.
Lightweight and packable warmth
Down outperforms synthetic insulation in its packability and warmth-to-weight ratio, which is among the best in outdoor clothing, but it doesn’t stay warm when wet like synthetic does. Down insulates by creating pockets of air that trap body heat. The structure of feathers that creates those pockets also makes for extreme compressibility, which lets garments pack down to a much smaller size to free up room in your pack or luggage.
Modern style with room for layers
Our regular fit is built with inbounds resort riding in mind. The cut accommodates multiple insulated layers for the coldest days on hill, while still tapering in just the right places to provide a clean look that’s at home across the world.
Designed to thrive in lift-accessed terrain
Built with daily use in mind, our resort-oriented outerwear features a durable and waterproof construction that keeps you covered through changing weather and holds up to daily wear and tear.

Runs about 1/2 size large
It's not a thick expedition style parka like a Canada Goose or NorthFace McMurdo. There simply isn't enough down to protect you in dangerous temperatures. It's a nice jacket to walk around town, hang out in cold temps and to wait for trains and such. In truly cold temps, say, below 0 f, you need an actual belay jacket or expedition style parka with serious amount of down. By that time, you don't need Gore-Tex because you won't get rain. On the medium size, the sleeves extended down to my knuckles and the coat covered my arse and extended down additional 3 inches. The fabric is just a bit noisy but not crazy noisy like a technical jacket. All the features like the zippers, snap buttons, pockets and sewing are first rate. However, the hood could have used a stiffer material on the forehead to stabilise the position in case you do run into some kind of freezing rain while waiting for your Uber. I'm going to gift this but, if, next year, Backcountry makes another gear with even more down that is bomb proof, I'll consider getting one myself.

Perfect coat for Chicago winters
I did a lot of research before purchasing this coat for my son. A gearhead recommended it to me, and I can say that he was absolutely right. I was a bit hesitant because we usually buy NorthFace or Patagonia jackets, but this is an awesome coat and is a great deal for the money! Very warm, waterproof, and not bulky. Highly recommend!

Great Quality, Office & Commuter Love
This is a great low-key but high-quality piece for office/commute. A wool coat is not warm enough for sub 0 degree here in DC with wind. This parka is prefect. There's lots of rain recently, Gore-Tex should make me dry and warm. I think the quality exceeds C-Goose. I don't like big icons and it's unnecessary for office. Highly Recommended. The size runs big.

Warmth and style
This is a great parka for unsurpassed warmth. It has a better fit for the longer armed guys and room enough for the sweater weather. For sure one I would recommend for the guy looking for something to beat a frosty, windy day with style.

This jacket feels a lot more expensive than what it is priced at. The exterior fabric feels very durable and has kept me dry despite walking around in blowing, wet snow. It's also SUPER warm - great for cold Utah mornings lately, and the interior fabric is nice and soft. Best thing about it is the high collar - i usually prefer to wear a beanie instead of a hood and the way the collar sits is high enough to make it so I don't need the hood much.

Awesome, and so warm
Size down a size, I normally wear an XL jacket and the large was big enough to layer under and worked great. this parka is next level with great warmth and pockets. Not too bulky and has a great urban appeal.
