Pairs well with knobby tires and dirt.

Refined for your trail riding pleasure, the Backcountry Men's Full Suspension Jersey emphasizes easy-wearing comfort as you muscle up twisty climbs in the mountains and flow across the tacky dirt of old growth forests. The sculpted hem and articulated patterning ensure you're always ready for what's lurking ahead, whether that's a wooden bridge crossing a rushing creek or a sculpted berm just begging you to lean in and enjoy the ride.

This casual trail jersey sports a woven placket with three custom snaps, allowing you to open it up for a bit more airflow, as well as providing a classic look and feel. The soft knit fabric is comprised of lightweight, quick-drying polyester with a touch of added stretch, so you can ride hard without overheating issues or restriction holding you back. We finish it with a Polygiene treatment that repels odor, even if you are sweating on a long climb or wearing this jersey for successive trail outings.

Off to a good start

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large
  • Height: 6'1"
  • Weight: 185lbs

For the most part, this shirt is a really good option. I am not a huge fan of the construction: the material is rather heavy, and the seams do not line up all that well. Probably an okay option at 30% off or more, but I would not pay full price.

Good Shirt

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL
  • Height: 6'0"
  • Weight: 235lbs

I ordered this along with the Patagonia Bike Henley jersey to give them both a try. I like that this shirt has a storage pocket on the side where the Patagonia one does not. What caught me by surprised was the weight of this shirt... It is heavy! But even with it being a heavier shirt, it breathes really well. After a few sweaty humid rides, I know that the shirt will not hinder the ride. I am not a small guy so I got the XL and love the baggy feel.

Clean, Simple, Great

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium
  • Height: 6'2"
  • Weight: 170lbs

I love that there is a little more weight to this jersey than it would seem. It feels solid to wear and adds a small (yet not insignificant) layer of protection when out and about! I've used it climbing and on some falls and off-width full body jams, it and I have held up nicely! Still looks great around town too and the side pocked is a great little touch to store a wallet, keys, chapstick or anything else small.

Solid Jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

First off - I haven't taken a fall with the jersey but I've been able to examine the material quite closely and am confident it would hold up to a few scrapes. I also like the feel and stretch of the material. Like others have said, it may feel bulky on first impression, but it wears well. The hip pocket is a nice feature as well.
I don't actually like the style of the jersey as a casual shirt. I'm 5'9 ~160 and the fit on the shoulders is just odd. The built in shoulder padding looks pretty awkward to me. No qualms in the slightest about using it as intended though!

Not just a jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I like the weight and comfort of this "jersey". I say it like that because it can perform as a jersey, but may turn into your favorite every day T-shirt (its that comfortable). Wear it from your bike ride to the yoga studio for a stretch, wear it on your ride to the bar to meet your friends, all whilst having your essentials packed away in the secret hip pocket.

5'11 180lbs comfortably fit in a medium

Not just a jersey

Big Fan

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

As others have mentioned, the jersey fabric is a little thicker than normal, but its thicker in a good way. Probably wouldn't be my go to on a 100 degree day, but for most conditions its a very nice weight. Its a soft stretchy fabric, and because its slightly thicker it does feel like you could take a little digger and not shred it.

FIt wise, pretty dialed as well. I went with the Large for a slightly more "sporty" fit. Also for sizing reference I am 6'5 and 210 pounds, There is also extra fabric in the back which helps keep the whole thing in the right place while you are seated on your bike.

Overall would 10/10 recommend.

Great Looking, Durable Jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Full Suspension Jersey is a great addition to any riders gear! It's super burly and in my opinion would be best used for Fall riding in cooler temps. The material is thick and can certainly stand up to crashes and falls. It's super subtle and just as good to wear around town, as it is to wear on the bike. It fits a bit large so I'd suggest sizing down if you are in between sizes. I'm 5'8'' and usually a medium in shirts and jerseys, but a small fit great!
PS:
There's a secret pocket in the back of the jersey for keys or something small.

Awesome

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This jersey is awesome! It looks like a normal shirt. If you are looking for a mountain bike jersey that doesn't scream look at me, I would go with this. The fit is awesome as well! If you are looking for a baggy fit I would size up.

Simple & Solid!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am 5'11" and about 175-180lbs. Typically wear a size large jersey and got that here - fits perfectly. Probably could get away with a medium if you like a more athletic fit. I was stoked to see Backcountry put out some branded apparel and wasn't disappointed in the least - definitely Goatworthy here!

The material is definitely heavy and sort of thick when you first pick it up, enough to make me worry about riding in the heat. Once you actually have it on, it feels great. The jersey feels exactly how a trail jersey should be - soft, very comfortable feel on the skin, and breaths great. The initial pick up impression vs impression after a few rides in it left me very pleasantly surprised! There is a sneak pocket on the right side of the back that you could put keys/multitool or a snack in, honestly don't see myself ever using it but neat feature to have.

One thing that I love is the Backcountry branding is subtle - it has a few logos but doesn't scream in your face branding like a few other companies like to do. I also am a huge fan of the Lava color option. Its bright and the color pops nicely without being overly flashy.

Simple & Solid!

Already a favorite

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am a big fan of the Backcountry Full Suspension Jersey. The materials and construction are high quality, I particularly like the stretch of the material which allows for unrestricted freedom of motion with a great fit. I have Medium and I am 6'0" 180 lbs. and the fit is nice and trim, almost slim fit which is my personal preference. I have used the jersey on multiple hot days thus I can attest that this jersey is both breathable and wicks away perspiration incredibly well. Finally, the style is perfect: refined and understated. All told, I am very please with this jersey and I will be likely purchasing another one in red.

A Performance Jersey with a Clean Look

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Concerned about the weight of the jersey, as soon as I began pedaling, I soon realized there was nothing to be worried about. It may feel a bit heavy, but breathes well, wicks moisture, and thus far, has proven fairly durable. With a clean, simple look, it'll have you going from the peak to Main Street with no issue. The zippered pocket on the back of the jersey is a perfect stash pocket. Then henley is not something I'd normally wear, but on a hot day, it's great to pop those buttons open. I'm 5'8", about 160lbs, and went with the large. I like my jersey's a bit on the looser side, so it fits perfectly.

Wear it Everywhere

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Really like the casual style of this jersey, it looks great both on and off the trail. The material is perfectly suited for most conditions and has an athletic, comfortable fit.

Way better than I expected!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have the gray jersey and it's perfect for long rides when you want to stop and get a beer afterwards without changing clothes. Love the stash pocket on the side!
Update 9/27: I wore this jersey all summer in the Utah heat and while the material feels beefier than some others, it kept me cooler and wicked away moisture better than my Kitsbow and POC jerseys. It also still looks like new despite a few falls and scrapes.
