Why We Built The Double Ski & Snowboard Rolling Bag

For ski trips that take you and yours far from home, bring along the Backcountry Double Ski & Snowboard Rolling Bag to make the trip a little easier. We designed this bag to fit two pairs of skis or two snowboards, plus its roll-top closure limits excess material and bulk if our sticks don’t need the full capacity. We also utilized oversized wheels for effortless rolling and a waterproof lining for an easy-going travel experience. I have stuffed two pairs of skis and two snowboards in this thing. Durable and adjustable to all size skis. I needed a bag long enough for my 194 skis and also be able to compress down for snowboards. Lots of storage and loops to attach stuff. In its second season and still looking new!

I was so excited to get this bag and use it for a ski trip to Colorado. The bag looks well constructed and worth of a many years of service. Unfortunately, my expectations were not meet. It only took one trip from Boston to Seattle (direct) to put a two holes through the bag and several key abrasions that will led to future holes in this bag. There are several other reviews on here where the same problems occurred. I figured this bag would stand up to at least one trip! The bag now has two holes that will allow water and debris to get to the inside of the bag and mess with the skis and boards. The frustrating thing is that the bags interior is really well suited for multiple skis and a board along with some other gear and still be under the 50lb ski bag weight limit plus the rollers are key for navigating airports. Customer service offers in store credit. I have seen this bag in fair condition up for sale on GEARTRADE for $90 being sold again by Backcountry. Go figure... My recommendation you it to not buy this bag and to look elsewhere for a bag that will last you more then one trip - especially at this price of $240+. I gave this product a 2 star rating only because I like backcountry and the customer service was quick and helpful. I can't recommend this product but I can recommend Backcountry.

Not as durable as stated

I realize that luggage is going to be subject to wear and tear, especially when used to fly ski gear across the country. However, I expected a bit more out of this ski bag. It only took one trip from Boston to Seattle (direct) to put a hole in this bag. Looks like there are at least a couple of other reviews on here where they encountered a similar problem. Since we all know that flying can be rough on gear and the price of this ski bag is relatively high compared to some other options, it seems as though it would take more than one trip to start showing the effects. Otherwise the bag fit skis, poles, and some clothing, just right to make it under the 50 lb checked baggage weight limit. It appears to be waterproof and padded our gear quite well. It was also pretty easy to carry and maneuver packed to 50 lb. Shipping was quick and ordering was easy as usual on Backcountry.com.

I love this ski bag. I did have a tear within the first use but I believe it got caught on something in the airport and it was small enough to not worry about it. This bag fits everything I need! Love it.

Fits way more than advertised

Backcountry upgraded this bag since I had issues with my first purchase of the Burton Commuter Space Sack Board Bag. I don't like writing negative reviews so here I am writing on a positive one on my upgrade. This bag can fit so much! I had my board with bindings on, 4 helmets (with gloves shoves inside), my boots, two bibs and my jacket with space to spare. It was much more durable than any Burton or Dakine bag I've owned in the past but I will admit those previous bags were around the $75-$100 price range. The straps were great and buckles seemed to work fine too. I saw some negative reviews on the buckles so we will have to get it through a few more flights to see how it pans out. So far I am very happy with this bag and highly suggest it for constant travelers.

Buckles broke from one trip

Only used once for international travel, was able to fit two persons worth of gear in it (board, boots, bindings). Unfortunately, multiple buckles were broken and the fabric was ripped. Backcountry says that this isn’t covered by the warranty, but the buckles broke doing exactly what the bag is designed to do so that’s disappointing.

The compartments and roll top are great. I used this bag for one trip last season and it fit a pair of skis, a snowboard, 2 pairs of boots, and helmets. Downside of the bag is the buckle on the bottom handle bent and now will not keep the handle closed. I expected the buckles to be sturdier/of better quality for a travel bag so this was very disappointing given the price as the bottom handle has to be cut off or the buckle replaced.

Not sized appropriately

DOES NOT FIT 190cm ski. I managed to cram my skis in, but the design of the bag means it will open at any time with longer skis. Velcro on one end of the bag opened in transit and a bunch of my gear fell out somewhere in an airport. I won’t be buying a backcountry branded product after this experience.
