Solid ski bag

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Fit:
True to size

Well made bag, plenty of room for my two pairs of black crows skis (188 and 190 cm). Roller wheels work well, convenient storage pockets and roll-top eliminates slack and keeps the bag neat.

Well

Great bag

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Great bag for a snowboarder. I personally love the design, features, and all the room. I’m not big on the roll top or the roll top not having padding. However I’m a snowboarder and my board nor my spare deck reach the roll top so it’s a non factor for me. Still holding together after a few flights and road trips.

Poor design

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Got the bag in fall of 2019, took it on two ski trips where I was flying and promptly returned it after. Agree with other reviewers that the padding only covers around 160cm skis, the roll down top offers no padding or protection to the tops of skis. The interior is not reinforced very well, my bindings wore a hole that went all the way through after just the two trips. Just seems to be made cheaply.

Well, I tried it but am returning

First, let me state my purpose, just because this bag won't work for me doesn't mean it won't work for you. I am looking for a true 2 ski travel bag. I need to travel with one set of adult skis/poles plus my kids 2 pairs of skis 80cm and 90cm. I bought this bag and the Thule roundtrip 2 ski bag to compare. The backcountry bag is a quality bag with some cool features, particularly the zip storage that runs almost the whole length. Ultimately I have decided to go with the Thule for a couple of reasons. But mainly- I DON'T understand the roll top on the backcountry bag. I mean, it seems whomever designed this bag was trying hard to put out something different (in a good way) than other bags on the market. That said, what is the purpose of the roll top? My skis are only 164 and the roll top portion of the bag has no padding. Leaving your tips exposed in my opinion. Now, I understand that I can pack gear into the top of the bag to provide padding but I am going to do that anyway in the Thule bag and it still has padding in the top and I don't have this dumb roll top to deal with.

I have been trying to decide between this bag and the Thule, and after reading your review, I am going to go with the Thule, too! Thanks. Backcountry makes quality stuff with cool designs, so I hope they will make updates to come up with a better one!

Awesome

Got one of these in Fall 2019 and used it pre-COVID a couple times, including flying with it twice - it held up so much better than the Dakine bag I had before. Not sure what the other reviewer is talking about - I had two pairs of skis in it, one pair of 188cm Black Crow Corvus skis and one pair of 182 Atomic Redster X9s. They fit just fine. Thanks Backcountry!

Thanks for your review, based on your review I am going to try this bag. Fingers crossed it works. Trying to spread 1 adult skis, 2 adult snowboards, and 2 sets of kids skis (90cm) across 2 travel bags. What a load!

Doesn’t fit over 160cm

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit:
Runs small
Size Bought
180cm

Padding only covers around 160cm skis. Longer skis rise up into the folding handle area at the top where there is no padding. Also, it does not fit 2 pairs of skis in a comfortable way. No matter how you use it, either the ski tips or bindings are compromised. It does look good but the description requires more detail. Haven’t flown with it yet, but is very well made.

Thanks for your review. I’ve been looking at this bag for a while but wasn’t sure it’d fit my needs. I’m trying to travel with skis (170) and a snowboard. Based on your review I’m going to avoid this bag.

Based on your review, I think I am going to pass on this bag.

Thanks for the detailed review. I think I am going to look at other options.

Will this bag fit skis and a snowboard (one pair each)? Boots included?

Hey Aaron, This bag was only designed for two skis or one snowboard. I cannot say with certainty it will not fit both a snowboard and a ski. The bag will accommodate boots and extra gear. If you would like to purchase this bag and try packing it, please do! We will give you a free return label if it doesn't work out! Just contact a Gearhead and reference this response!

How many snowboards with bindings will fit? Looking for a bag that could replace 2 tubes for travel.

Hi there, Im sorry this will only fit one snowboard, or two skis.

>Rating:

Will it be able to put 156cm snowboard + 148cm Ski and 2 helmets and two boots?

Hey Natnaree, This bag is designed for two skis or a snowboard. The way the compression strap operates will not allow for a board and skis. Additionally, there is not enough space for two skis and two boots or helmets in the compartment. Boots should be stored in a secure bag that you can carry on with., or check.

Hi, Would this be able to fit both a pair of skis (174 cm) and a snowboard (155cm)? Presumably it would be a tight fit to include both ski and snowboard boots as well.

Hi Chris, it certainly should be able to - you would just need to strap them in there in a particular way.
