Nice cotton shorts

I've been looking to change most of my clothes over to natural fiber so these attracted my eye since they're cotton. The fabric is nice- not see through. The rise is very high waisted which I don't love but I roll them once and the fit is better. Can't complain for paying $15. 2 pockets in the front is a nice feature. I got a size small so they run big. I'm usually a medium. I'm 5'10, 160 athletic build for reference

They are okay but could be better

The fit on these seems to be true to size if not slightly bigger. The cut is okay, but like the pants version, the crotch is cut very long, not proportionate to the rest of the garment. The fabric is very inconsistent (I purchased multiple pairs) even within the same colorway. Some is more fluffy and some very crinkly with a different hand feel. Honestly i probably would return these if returns shipping was free, but it isn’t its 6.99. So I will keep them, but doubt I’ll buy from Backcountry again.

Confusing sizing.

I think the pants fit me better, but I ordered the pants in the medium. The shorts fit in small, but I thought I would like more room in the hips and seat. I ordered the medium, and they were huge in the waist. I think they are around 2.5 inches too big. My waist is around 29.5. So I went back to the small, but I had already returned them, so it was a complication. I am hoping since they are cotton, they will stretch, and they do fit, just not perfectly. The fabric is lovely, and the style is attractive. Weirdly, I needed a different size in the shirt than the pants, though.

I like these shorts, great for hot days, good price point. they do run large though, if I ordered again I'd size down a size.
