Backcountry x Black Diamond Stone Garden Rope Bag

Stone Garden's ground is as dirty as its limestone rock is fun to climb, and the Backcountry x Black Diamond Stone Garden Rope Bag keeps your rope clean from the warmups to the left of the crag all the way to one of the most popular 5.12s in the state of Utah. In the event a day on the wall is interrupted by spring showers, the bag is also designed as a rain cover for the Stone Garden Crag Backpack. You can load all your gear—shoes, rack, food, and (of course) rope—into the backpack and protect it all with the rope bag.

Despite that hybrid functionality, the Stone Garden Rope Bag's name gives its main purpose away. It's concerned with ropes first, so it includes a massive, built-in tarp that separates your clean rope from all the eroded material that dirties the belay spot, and it rolls up your rope like a burrito for easy packing when you're done. It's also equiped with color-coded tie-in points that prevent your rope from knotting up when it's packed away, and the elastic closure complements the webbing grab handles with a packable design you can stow in your backpack for the approach back to Mirror Lake Highway—or wherever you happen to find yourself wearied and chalk-dusted after a day at the crag.

    Great Rope Bag

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I really like the idea of this rope bag. Super nice that it integrates with the BackcountryxBD pack but it doesn't fit if you have the bag stuffed full. I agree with other reviewers that a shoulder strap would be nice especially for scrambly approaches. It was cumbersome to carry it by the handle straps at a creek crossing. ALL THAT BEING SAID, I do really like the tie in points, material, and handles for throwing it around the crag. It's much easier to pick up and move quickly than the current edelrid bag I have.

    My Favorite Backcountry Brand Item

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

We have a bunch of reviews touting this item's simplicity and low price point. I contend that these reviews are short-sighted. I took this bag canyoneering in a wet canyon in Escalante and discovered that the bag is so waterproof that it will float easily--even with a heavy static rope inside of it. It's so light weight and intuitive to use that I think it's the best designed product that Backcountry has made so far.

Nice basic bag, needs a shoulder strap

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I like this bag for carrying my 60m rope and some extra gear too, definitely appreciate the tarp and ties built in. It could be improved with a shoulder strap or some other way to carry it hands-free as I found it bulky to carry while scrambling on different approaches. But for the price it's definitely a solid choice.

    simple is perfect

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

fits what you need it to and then some. I can basically use this as my crag bag for sport. I clip my draws to the handles.

    this thing is so sick

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

lost my rope tarp and was looking for a replacement. Ended up finding this guy and couldn't be more stoked on how well it worked out. Fits my 70 meter rope perfectly!

    Great little rope bag!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great little rope bag. It's waterproof, easy to carry, has a tarp included, and fits a 70m rope perfectly. I also like that it is lightweight and streamlined as it fits easily into a crag pack. After a route, flake your rope onto the tarp, tie off the ends to the tie in points, burrito it up, and head to your next pitch! If you're looking for a rope bag for day trips and moving easily between climbs, this is perfect!

    Great little rope bag!

    Sweet and Simple

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I mean SURE, you could use an ikea bag or a custom trader joe bag that you made, but check this out! It's light, it's got a tarp, and it's waterproof. It can also be used as a fly for your Stone Garden Crag pack! It fit's pretty much any size of rope so you don't need to worry about sizing.

    Would definitely recommend

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is basically the Black Diamond Burrito but is specifically designed to integrate with the Backcountry x Black Diamond Stone Garden Crag Backpack. It functions as a rope tarp, a rope bag, and if you take the rope out then it serves as a rain fly for the backpack! It works wonderfully and is pretty sturdy. 10/10 would recommend if you get the Stone Garden Crag Bag.
