Why We Like The Scepter 4S Adjustable Ski Pole Pole

The Backcountry Access Scepter 4S Adjustable Ski Pole provides year-round usefulness for splitboarding and hiking. Its collapsible construction packs small for the ride back down or chilling by an alpine lake, and we like how the collapsed shafts secure in the powder basket for easier packing. The poles also adjust in length too, and the extended grip comes in handy when we're switchbacking a steep skin track.

Disappointing Durability: A Review of th

Familiarity:

I purchased the Scepter 4S Adjustable Ski Pole with high hopes at the start of this ski season, attracted by its adjustable feature which promised versatility across different skiing conditions. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations due to a critical flaw in its design and durability. After using the ski poles no more than five times, I encountered a significant issue with the locking mechanism—a vital component that ensures the pole remains extended to the desired length. The metallic nub, which plays a crucial role in locking the pole in place, dislodged and fell into the interior shaft of the pole. This malfunction not only rendered the ski pole unusable but also raised concerns about the overall quality and reliability of the product. The concept of an adjustable ski pole is indeed appealing, offering adaptability for varying terrains and personal preferences. However, the execution, in this case, is deeply flawed. A ski pole's integrity and reliability are paramount, especially when navigating through challenging ski conditions. The failure of such a fundamental feature not only undermines the product's value but also poses potential safety risks to its users. I reached out to customer service in hopes of a resolution, emphasizing the premature nature of the product's failure and its limited use. While the outcome of this interaction is pending, this experience has significantly impacted my confidence in the brand and its products. For fellow skiers considering the Scepter 4S Adjustable Ski Pole, I would urge caution and perhaps look towards more reliable alternatives. The concept might be promising, but the durability and execution leave much to be desired. A ski pole should be a dependable piece of equipment, not a source of frustration and potential hazard on the slopes. While I had hoped the Scepter 4S Adjustable Ski Pole would be a versatile and valuable addition to my skiing gear, the reality was a disappointing testament to its poor durability and design. I hope this review helps others make more informed decisions and encourages the manufacturer to address these critical issues.

Very tall!

These poles seemed really promising - adjustable, lightweight yet sturdy, and I loved the idea of having a scraper on the handle. Only trouble is - for some reason these poles are super tall. I have always had 110cm poles since I'm 5'3'' - but these were still comically too tall for me on the shortest setting. My husband is 5'7" and they were even too tall for him. Just FYI if you're short! I had to return sadly :(
