    LOOOOOOOOVVVEEE these pants!!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 4
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 120lbs

These pants are not only cute, comfy, and stylish, but they fit PERFECT! They fit in the way that I always wish pants would, but rarely do. Because of this, these pants might not be the best fit for a lot of women.

I'm not overweight, but I have an extremely hour-glass shape. This means my hips are MUCH bigger than my waist, and because I CAN'T STAND pants that ride high at the "true waist" but rather want them down below my belly button a bit, pants are ALWAYS tight at my hips if they fit the rest of me perfect. Then, even though I'm not overweight, eat impeccably, and exercise regularly (5'5", 120 pounds); I've always got a muffin top bulging out the top of my pants. Very unattractive. So I either have to settle for a size that's bigger than what I actually need just so my hips don't get squeezed and constrained, (which then means they're WAY too big around my thighs, etc); or, I get the size that fits the rest of me perfect, and deal with the muffin top poof. :-(

I got a size 4 in these and do think they're sized large. If sizes actually reflected anything real, I think I would really be a size 6. Since sizes are really quite arbitrary these days, I'd say if you're wondering whether to size up or down, definitely size down.

Also, if you have a boyish figure or small waist with larger thighs, you will NOT like the shape of these pants. They either just won't fit, or you'll find yourself having to belt them because the waist will be so huge on you if you're wearing a size that fits your thighs. If you like pants riding high above your belly button, you also won't like these.

I love these so much and this fit is such a rare find, that I intend to get another pair soon.

Curvy but healthy sized girls of the world, we FINALLY have a pair of pants that were made for us!!! :-)

    I would buy more already

Like the previous reviewer, I also find it impossible to find bottoms that fit my hips and thighs well. I find it even harder to find a pair of capris or shorts that work because those have a much higher rate of turning large thighs into awesomely-unattractive sausages by default. I barely got these and just wore them around the house. The little bit of lycra is perfect and the waist band loosened up just enough to be comfortable, but not too much. If we had more colors, and more size 14's I would absolutely buy another pair. These will be perfect for the summer.

For comparison, I also tried on some marmot and prAna capris.

The Marmot, size 14, was great in the waist, and had a low rise which I really apprecited, but the thighs were cut too tight. It was an odd mix. I will return them:

The prAna was interesting in that they are "slip-on," without a zipper or button fly, but the draw string is a nice touch to customize the fit of the waist, especially to avoid gaps in the back. These had a little more stretch to them, but they were cut a little slimmer overall, and much slimmer in the thighs (size XL compared to the 14's above). So again, returning these.

Like most women, finding a pair of pants that fit and are good looking is an eternal quest. I'm 5'2' , about 120, and though I have very muscular thighs and bottom from hiking up lots of mountains, I don't have the sleek athletic body that I deserve. I am very "curvy" and this is my ruin when it comes to buying brands like Patagonia or NorthFace, which seem to be of the mind that active women have no hips. Anyway, the Aventura fit is just awesome. The rise is just right, hitting just below my belly button but still high enough in the back that I don't have any unfortunate plummer pants moments. Overall, the cut is roomy enough to allow for good range of movement, but not baggy. Perfect for hiking and even yoga. The fabric seems strong but feels soft to the touch. Finally, the color. Did I mention the color? I got the "tomato" which is sort of a dusky red. Hard it is to find red pants that are't either crayon box red or maroon--these are that perfect shade. I'll be wearing these all summer. Thank you Aventura!
