    Backland 117 Alpine Touring Ski

Whether you're skiing spines in Alaska, searching for fresh powder and steep lines in the backcountry, or sniffing out leftovers at your home mountain, the Atomic Men's Backland 117 Alpine Touring Ski can step up. The generous 117 millimeter waist paired with a rockered tip and tail give the ski exceptional float in deep snow, and Atomic's HRZN Tech Tip adds 10% more surface area to the tips without adding weight, further improving flotation in powder and control in chop. A poplar wood core keeps the weight low without throwing dampening properties and stability to the wind, and a full-length carbon insert keeps the ski agile and powerful without making them so heavy you can't get up the skin track. Atomic added a full sidewall right under the binding to increase edge grip and control, even when you hit a patch of unexpectedly firm snow.

    • Big-mountain touring skis for sniffing out the fresh
    • Wide 117mm waist float through bottomless snow with ease
    • Tip and tail rocker provide a playful, surfy feel
    • Tip and tail have 10% more surface area for improved floatation
    • Lightweight wood core increases shock absorption and stability
    • Carbon insert adds strength and edge hold without compromising weight
    • Sidewall under binding ensure better power transmission from edge to edge
    • Item #ATO00BM

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

A very proficient reactive ski for a large touring focused powder ski. Its not as stiff as a metal ski but not as soft as other lightweight touring options. This set of Backlands prefers big wide turns and straight-lining down the face. This is the pro model of Sage Cattabriga-Alosa so you can watch video's of him riding the skis to get a better idea of how it rides. I would recommend a mounting them +2 from the factory position to gain more overall control over the ski because they do ski as big as they look, but its very easy for how much underfoot camber they have. This is a true 5 star would recommend product.
