Backland 117 Ski - 2023

The Backland 117 Ski is Atomic's widest backcountry ski, it lets us trudge up steep skin tracks and float down deep powder. It has that uncanny combination of feeling light on the ascent yet, chargy and energetic when it's time to lay down some tracks. We appreciate Atomic’s use of HRZN Tech on this touring ski because it not only helps the ski rise above powder snow while skiing, but it also keeps the ski on top of the snow while we’re setting the skintrack in the deep stuff.

The freeride flat tail provides a strong finish to every turn and a burly platform for landing cliff drops. Directional shaping encourages long, sweeping turns down the fall line, making this ski an excellent tool for skiers who are looking to get into big mountain terrain under their own power.
