I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The $10 walmart vest are designed around a budget, not safety. These vest fit tight, do not obsruct the arms, and do not choke a child. The vest is built to last and my kids can wear it with their kayak skirt on without it pushing up in their neck. Tons of adjustments ensure it fits like a glove and just in case the S hits the fan a grab handle on the back is there. After buying one to see if it would fit my kids I immediately placed and order for another. I actually felt guilty putting them out on the river with a low quality PFD's for so long. I asked myself this : How many $100's of dollars of JUNK have I bought my kids that they never use? Then why hesitate to spend $100 on something that could save their life?

Thanks, Clark. This is the review I needed to read. :)

Astral Otter for Kids

A great PFD option for kiddos. A bit more expensive, but I know my kid is worth it... :-) Leta Astral Rep

Fits kids 50-90lbs

Is the back high enough to not interfere with a seat cushion (ocean kayak)?
