Loyak Water Shoe

From rafting whitewater and portaging with your kayak to SUPing and splashing in streams, the Astral Women's Loyak Water Shoe provides the traction, flexibility, and durability you need for all your summer aquatic adventures. The stitched Cordura upper is highly abrasion-resistant for durability, yet also breathable and quick-drying, thanks in part to drainage holes that allow water to escape while keeping entry of silt and sand to a minimum. The upper is also attached directly to the rubber outsole for a low-profile fit that fits into any kayak and gives you enhanced feel underfoot. G.15 rubber helps you maintain your footing on slippery river beds and slick rocks, and flex grooves allow your foot to flex naturally.

I use these with both my kayak and paddleboard. I have to walk over slippery rocks to use either and the grip is perfect. All the water runs out of this shoe as I get in my kayak. This is exactly what I needed and could not be happier.

Disappointed

I loved the shoes last year. Asured the rubber soles wouldn't glaze. New season and the grip is gone. Sliding on the deck.

Whoa.

These are easily the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever worn and they're cute enough to wear instead of my Sperry's that I purchased for daily use (those ended up being terrible). I haven't tried them in water yet but they will get daily water use this summer through guiding. Several co-workers have owned them and they stand up to everything. Just hoping the don't get a funk and hope they dry quickly.

Cute, cozy, & durable

This is my favorite shoe for whitewater rafting, SUPing, & freestyle whitewater kayaking. I really love them because they're flexible and fit into tight spaces. But, they still have enough sole for walking across rocky and sharp terrain.

SUP Shoe of choice

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

These are the only water shoes I will wear on my SUP! I wore these for a multi day river trip and love that the almost zero drop shoe and big toe box made me feel like I was barefoot, allowing me great balance and grip on my board. They were also great around camp, not compromising the shoe when I step on the heel to wear it around camp

Wife loved these

Got these for my wife and she loved them. Said they were very comfortable when we went out to the river.

Hey Jorge - not surprising... I own 3 pair!! Enjoy! Leta Astral Rep

Astral Loyak for the win!

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these for my sister for Christmas and she's delighted with them. I'll update as she uses them more, but she broke them in while cleaning her backyard after a storm. She said that they are "non-blistery" against her skin and she had great grip on wet concrete and grass. I expect her first kayak foray will provide equally positive raves!

Thank you! They have a great "sock" feel to them! No blisters at all. Quick dry, sticky on wet surfaces, and damn cute! Thanks for passing this along! Leta Astral Rep

Awesome!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I took these shoes with me to Cape Cod to walk around the beach and marshes in. They worked really well! Sand and water really easily drained from the shoes and they stayed comfortable all day long. With some shoes the sand and rubber create an awful scratchy feeling on your feet but that didn't happen with these. They're great with or without socks. They are really easy to clean and dry quickly too. It's a little hard to get them back on if they're wet and you're on the beach, but it's easy if you get into the water! 10/10 would recommend.

Thank you so much, Deanna! Leta Astral Rep

Most Versatile Pair of Shoes EVER

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

True to size

I originally bought these shoes for canoeing, rafting, and sea kayaking, but these shoes do everything! They fit my narrow feet well and easily adjust to fit a neoprene or wool sock underneath. Astral wasn't kidding when they said these puppies were sticky! I've stood on my fair share of slippery surfaces and these things didn't budge. They drain and dry quickly and they don't smell afterward. The laces that came with the shoe were too long to be safe, so I ended up replacing them with 2.5mm cord. These shoes are ideal camp shoes for backpacking trips because they are lightweight and pack down easily, but heck, I've done a fair bit of hiking in the Lowyaks! 10/10 would recommend these to anyone who is looking for an amphibious shoe that can take you from sea to river to summit.

I love my Loyaks! They are so comfortable you may as well be barefoot, yet when you jump from the river onto the rocks you have superhuman grip keeping you steady. Won't go on the river without them!

I love these shoes! I've had trouble finding shoes that would fit in my kayak and not make my toes fall asleep. These are not bulky at all and fit perfectly in my kayak and are cute enough to wear after you get off the river. They are comfortable and don't slip and slide on wet river rocks. These shoes are exactly what I've been looking for.

I am so impressed with how comfortable these are. They feel like slippers that were custom made for my feet. I'm not sure if I just got lucky with the shape, or if they just have that right amount of custom stretch, but I sure do love it. I usually wear a 9.5 in street shoes, and based on other reviews I went with the 10 and they fit perfect.

I have a favorite pair of shoes I wear so often, they have begun to develop holes. I have finally found the pair that will replace them. These shoes are super comfortable, easy to put on, and are super cute with what I wear. I am super excited to take them on my trips to the beach and hiking through river beds. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I ordered these shoes true to size - 10 and found myself wishing I had ordered 11s. I got these for guiding a low-water season on the Middle Fork Salmon, where I would need to jump in and out of the boat all day long. They were grippy and worked well, but were a little small. They seemed to shrink a bit after they dried in the sun. If you are planning on wearing any sort of socks under these shoes order a size up.

I have small feet. With that being said, it's really hard for me to find a water shoe that fits comfortably, and safely--until I found these. I LOVE THESE SHOES. I'll stop yelling at you now. I've used them for paddle boarding and playing around in lakes so far, couldn't be happier with their durability, grip, and non bulky style.

I am looking for a shoe to replace my chacos for longer multi day river trips like the Grand Canyon. I want to be able to wear the shoe with a dry suit, however, if I bought these a size up would you recommend these? Or a different pair? Thanks!

Hi Julia, These would be an excellent water shoe for multiple days on the river! I wouldn't recommend these for hiking or approaches as they do not offer a lot of support. As far as the dry suit, these would work fine if you went a size up in order to give enough space for the suit to fit in! I hope this helps, feel free to reach out to me directly for more information!

Do these shoes offer enough support for hiking? Im wondering if they would be good for hiking a rainforest. TIA

Hey Carrie, These shoes are definitely more river shoes than hiking shoes. I would look at the Astral Tr1 Junction shoe (item #ASL001M) if you want to stick with Astral. They are more of a hiking shoe with water features than the Loyak's water shoe with hiking features. They have better support and traction!
