Brewer 2 Water Shoe
Kayakers will find a lot of versatility with the Astral Men's Brewer 2 Water Shoe on or off the water. Its hydrophobic polyester sidewalls ensure long-lasting durability and abrasion resistance, and the Airmesh vamp and tongue allow airflow to help your feet dry quickly. A drainage at the front sidewall and a slit at the heel direct water out of your shoe every time you leave the river, and the Balanced Geometry EVA midsole cradles your foot so you can cover technical terrain easier. To top it off, the Granite Grip sole provides excellent traction on wet rocks and slippery bar floors.

Runs very tight in midfoot
- Fit:
- Runs small
- Size Bought
- 12
- Height
- 6` 1"
- Weight
- 210 lbs
Bought these because I'm a big fan of Altra and Topo shoes, both with wide toebox but standard midfoot and heel. While the Brewer 2.0 offer good toe splay and are comfortable in the heel, they are very, very tight in the midfoot (the area just back of the ball). For reference, I wear a size 12 in all sneakers, so I bought that size. While slightly shorter than other sneakers, 12 was probably the correct length. Ordering a half size up may have reduced the midfoot problem, but they don't offer a 12.5.

Boyfriend Approved
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Gifted these to my boyfriend (on the right) because he is always trekking through water, but refuses to wear sandals - so these shoes were perfect! He took them out for the first time this weekend where he used them to hike through the Escalante river on our backpacking trip. One of the best parts of using these sheos to trek through water is that the sneaker style gives you toe protection when walking through rocky streams. And you don't have to worry about picking pebbles out of your sandals every five steps! When we moved out of the water, and back onto the main trail, the shoes drained and dried super quickly, although he did change back into boots for the bulk of the trail on land for more ankle support. However, for quick hikes, float trips, and general wading by the campsite, these sneakers would do just fine! I am glad that we found him something that he likes so I no longer have to worry about slipping around and breaking his ankle while wearing crocs (like his friend on the left - ha!) Overall, great review and especially for the men who don't like to wear sandals.

Fits narrow on these feet
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This shoe looks good, has great grip and drains well. I really wanted to love it. But it fits surprisingly narrow. Perfect fit in heel and toe - with an expected amount of space to stretch in the toe - can't make up for rub on the inner and outer foot. I'd hoped continued wear would settle out the fit. Persistent chafing just behind the ball of the foot at the eyelets meant painful travel, whether rock or sand. I have to accept defeat.

Bring on the slippery, wet, slog fest!!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
The Astral Brewer 2.0 is a one shoe quiver. The Brewer is an incredibly high-performance kayaking shoe with understated good looks that effortlessly flows from upstream, to flat water to downtown and many adventures in between. Pleaase check out this link for pictures and full review. http://bit.ly/2qvKorX

2.0's are Even Better than OGs
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
These shoes are my favorite if there is even a slight chance I will be in water. The razor grip provides excellent grip and is my go to shoe for wet wade fly fishing in the summer. Unfortunately my first pair washed away on a rafting trip but the 2.0s are new and improved with a heel loop, better mesh and overall better comfort on the shoe. Unfortunately I had to wear Chacos in the river for a week or two until I came running back to these for the superior grip and overall protection in the river.
