    Peloton Proven.

As the official clothing sponsor of World Tour Team BMC, Assos gains valuable insight from professional cyclists ultimately helping the brand create an even better product. And since the team has quite the legion of fans across the globe, Assos releases its BMC Cycling kit for the rest of us to experience the comfort and durability befitting the sport's greatest athletes and letting us add some peloton panache to our wardrobe with its T.equipe_S7 BMC Cycling Bib Short.

Assos spent six years working closely with its Weksmannshcaft factory team in the development of the T.equipe_S7's, fine-tuning every detail until it was released to the cycling world. The T.equipe_S7's occupy the low-volume race-fit option among Assos' clearly defined _S7 line, crafting a streamlined and precise fit applied specifically while in the riding position. Assos uses its Type.439 fabric to construct the main body of the shorts, a supportive synthetic material designed to transfer moisture quickly away from your skin as you ride while stabilizing your muscles with a moderately compressive five-panel design. Some degree of compression has become standard amongst top-end kits, and Assos isn't a stranger to its ability to limit fatigue-inducing road vibrations while you're riding for hours. Keep in mind that fatigue comes from riding in the heat too, so Assos chose to finish Type.439 with an iceColor treatment aiming to reduce the surface temperature of dark fabrics prone to absorbing heat from the sun. This sounds ideal for clothing designed to tackle long days circling France for three weeks in the summer.

The five-panel design Assos chose for the T.equipe_S7's is notably more minimal than the standard eight-panel construction adopted by most bib shorts. Assos' reasoning for choosing a five-panel design is that it achieves a slightly asymmetrical compressive hold that stretches more laterally than in a linear direction. This tuned stretch works to firmly secure the short in-place while you're stretched out in the drops and feels slightly restrictive while standing. Devout Assos fans know this signature "click on" fit well and know that the slight discomfort off the bike is a small price to pay for the incredibly precise fit that the short achieves once you're riding. Assos also introduced a new Y7 bib strap design for the short, moving the straps outward toward the obliques for better support and it eliminates the gap that often forms along the torso between the collarbone and upper hips keeping the straps closer to the body. And now for the star of the T.equipe's technological dominance: the chamois. First, as with all of the _S7 collection, it's designed in Assos' amethyst color. According to Assos, this purple hue was chosen to pay homage to the clothing of Roman emperors, English monarchs, and members of Japanese aristocracy, as the historically-significant color highlights what it calls the "most technically advanced cycling shorts on Earth."

As one of the top-end chamois within the _S7 line, it receives the bulk of Assos' technical innovations to emerge from its extensive product testing. The engineers began with an 8mm-thick memoryFoam material. This was first introduced on the venerable _s2 FI.13, as its shock absorbing composition returns to its original position, "filling the gap," every time the pedaling position changes in the saddle through the shift of weight. The memoryFoam features multiple layers, with its superAir and waffle composition making up the first two. This perforated design works to increase breathability and shed weight. Additionally, this dimpling, combined with the ultra-soft microfiber top sheet, effectively pulls moisture from within the layers below, which allows it to dry much quicker than the previous _s5 chamois.

Once Assos got the chamois layup to their standards, the engineers began rethinking the way a traditional chamois is attached to the shorts. This led them to a development they have proudly decided to refer to as "goldenGate," which essentially interrupts the stitching along both of the chamois' side panels, allowing for a more "three-dimensional" freedom of movement in this sensitive, rotational area. Additionally, because the seams are eliminated, friction is minimized even further. But if that weren't enough, Assos went ahead and extended the chamois' thinly-padded sides over this short-to-chamois junction, making the transition against your skin as smooth as possible.

The Assos T.equipe_S7 comes in a claimed weight of 168g, which is the second lightest of the four shorts in the _S7 collection, with leg panels finished with new low-volume, calibrated-stretch superFlat grippers to keep the cuffs securely in place.

Great shorts at a great price

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XXL
    • Height: 6'4"
    • Weight: 235lbs

High quality shorts. I'm 6'4" 235lb guy--carry more of my height above my waist. Bottom half of shorts fit very well--chamios is large and well construction--dont have seams biting into anything they shouldn't. Bib straps well constructed--a smidge tight. They don't adjust so I need to live with that. All things considered, great shorts at great price (got them on sale, leveraged e-bates discount also).

    Best bibs I've ever worn

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 205lbs

I own a lot of bibs. These bibs are the first time I can ride for 100 miles without any pain. Will probably never buy another brand.

    Best bibs I've ever warn

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I love the Assos equipe bibs. The chamois is great, it has reasonably good cushioning but because it's not sewn continuously it floats a bit. I have no chafing issues with these and I do not use chamois cream unless I'm riding a century. If I wear my pearl izumi elite escapes I pay for it every time with raw skin. I also love the compression and the lower cut in the front that makes bathroom breaks much easier. My only complaint is price. They're just too expensive. I now have two pair and two of their more relaxed fit mille shorts which are almost as good.

Wait the price is a complaint? If you have shorts that are u bleed, then why is price an issue when you find a pair that are perfect. The most expensive assos are 400.. cheapest 139... this is a great kit for the price on sale now to

    GREAT shorts!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 195lbs

Per usual, AWESOME Assos piece of equipment. I have only ridden 35 mile and 37 mile rides, but these are great shorts. I guess one would consider these a bit flashy with all the logos...... I like flashy. Bought these on sale. I would have paid full price for these shorts. I have Castelli and Giordana shorts. Assos is the best for me!

    Good, but not great

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I believe this is more a well positioned brand, with lots of marketing and sponsorship, but for the money paid for it, I would expect more. There are high end brands such Giordana with much better product. Not to mention for instance a Sugoi Evolution. Way much comfortable for much less money. I have used this short bid for over 70 miles ride and many times I had to stand on my pedals to have some time out of the saddle. Not the greatest pad I would expect for such money.

    Assos Customer Service

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 185lbs

I am typically a positive person at heart but this was a bad experience. First let me say the actual bibs fit decent, not great. They are small compared to all other bibs I have worn in my 20+ years of cycling. I decided to go out of my norm and buy "the best bibs out there" in a pair of Assos. Here is the problem. I washed them the second time being worn.. was it my fault for not washing them in a mesh bag yes but it is what it is. I didn't and never have in 20+ years and never had a problem. The bibs got caught and I had to cut the elastic band to get them out. Next came my email to Assos customer service. I explained it was my fault and the answer that came back was. All repairs must be done in Switzerland. Yes I would have to ship them at my cost to Switzerland and return from Switzerland plus $50 for a small piece of elastic. Outrageous didn't even begin to describe my thoughts. Elastic purchased on Amazon and local seamstress will repair for $10. Two lessons learned.. First wash bibs in a mesh bag. check.. lesson two.. don't purchase a product from outside the United States that doesn't have any type of domestic based customer service.

UPDATE.... To be fair I did give these a 2 star rating not because of the quality of the bib itself but from the customer service of Assos. After over a week of going back and forth with a customer service rep at Assos and getting the same explanation of why I needed to ship them to Switzerland for repair I received an email from the Chief Commercial Officer at Assos with an apology for not providing good customer service in the United States and he is sending me a new pair for my inconvenience at no cost. So now Assos customer service has gone from horrible to outstanding with a highly positioned person in the company taking an interest in their customers. Bravo Assos. I do wish they had a better answer for repairs in the United States as shipping a pair of bibs to Switzerland with shipping being $40 isn't really an answer for a large market like the US. Thanks Frank at Assos for coming thru with much better customer service than what I started this process with.

Good to hear they stepped up and made it right for you. Incidentally, not to suggest the solution is a new washing machine, but the newer washing machines are less likely to cause this issue since they omit the spindle that your clothes can get tangled around. I have had a few instances where my bib straps get twisted around other garments, but fortunately nothing has torn. Just an occasional lost jersey zipper.

    Awesome and super light

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

I have LG, 2XU but these were amazing and "super light" compared to others. The chamois is awesome! Went thru 300km Audax and it was COMFORTABLE! I did also use Assos cream with it. The material is very different from other brand. The fit and overall construction is top notch! My waist is 30 and small fit perfect!

Great set of shorts at an amazing price

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 175lbs

These shorts are amazing for the current price, been riding equipe for almost a year now and never had a problem with them.
Thr only thing is that this is the BMC shorts not the USA cycling one
Runs a bit tight which i personally like.

    Wrong Image

The image is wrong and it seems they are not updating it. Attached is the correct photo.

      Wrong Image

No, they are not "technically the same product".

Similar, yes to a point, but significantly different too.

The image they have posted is of the new 2018 "EVO" version which has several improvements, most importantly an upgraded chamois and fabrics, a much cleaner look, and is not going to be found at this price.

It's not simply a version without the BMC logos.
