Taking the all-new SS.campionissimoJersey_evo7 out for a few dozen miles in the heat of summer tells us that, though Assos is often colloquially referred to as "the shorts company," the Swiss brand knows a few things about jerseys, too. The SS.campionissimoJersey represents a new level of innovation in cycling tops, and not even Assos' SS.cento jersey pushed the boundaries this far. By combining an integrated skinFoil base layer, a proprietary new fabric, and an asymmetrical design ethos that only Assos could dream up, the SS.campionissimo does to jerseys what the T.campionissimo_S7 bibs did for cycling shorts: completely revolutionize the game, and force every other manufacturer to up their game in order to stay relevant.
The jersey's main material is Assos' own type.002. No one's surprised to see a proprietary fabric on Assos' line-topping jersey, but its stylish matte finish, compressive stretch, and incredibly soft touch are surprisingly at odds with each other. A seamless construction at the collar and sleeves multiplies the material's comfort factor exponentially, but you won't get to enjoy the type.002 against your skin anywhere but at the sleeves and throat; the jersey incorporates a built-in skinFoil base layer around the torso. The skinFoil's textured material is actually softer than the type.002 outer layer, and it's more effective at wicking moisture from your skin to keep you dry.
Rather than a raglan-style strip extending all the way to the collar, the new shoulder design involves a central panel that maps across the top part of the trapezius, tapers across the deltoid, and wraps around the bicep and the triceps. This panel provides firm support across the shoulders and upper arms while the rest of the paneling allows for a more forgiving stretch. The result is a blend of structural compression across the shoulder and arm muscles — which helps to reduce the gradual accumulation of fatigue from micro-oscillations caused by road noise traveling up through the bars — without interfering with in saddle movement or restriction when stretched out in the drops. It's not simple or traditional, but that's the point: it addresses the shortcomings of traditional designs.
The sleeves themselves forgo tradition with a delightfully frivolous bit of asymmetry. We're not just talking about the different colors of the sleeves, either; the SS.campionissimoJersey's right (non-black) sleeve is actually shorter than the black one. There's clearly no possible "performance" benefit to this design choice, but it definitely gives the jersey some unique flair. A rubber branding strip at the throat and Assos patches at the left shoulder and center pocket add a few more purely aesthetic elements to the jersey. While they may not affect the course of a ride, details like these do get us a little more jazzed about setting out on those mid-week, after-work training rides. The jersey is finished with the usual Assos touches: branded zip pulls, three rear pockets, reflective detailing, and a fourth, zippered security pocket.

86 mile parkway
Jersey fits true to size feels & looks great. Rode 86 miles in the mountain first time I wore it & and it preformed great. No flap in the wind downhill. And no sweat build up on long long long climbs.

Amazing race fit, feels like a second skin. A little on the thicker side of the spectrum of summer jerseys out there, would only ride with temps below 85 degrees. My only gripe is the high/stiff collar, I find it chafes against the adams apple.

The built in base layer is amazing in the hottest and most humid conditions. Along with the very breathable back panel I don't ever get dripping wet in this jersey. It transports all moisture away and you never feel wet. The fit is aero yet comfortable. Never binding anywhere. Pockets are classic Assos - Sturdy, deep, never sagging when loaded. My favorite thing about this jersey is that temperature is regulated efficiently with the zipper. I never got so hot that I needed to open it up completely. Unlike other jerseys I've owned over the years. Relief comes by just zipping down and letting the air flow as much as you want and it's like turning on air conditioning. If summer nights or mornings get cool zip up to the collar and the front panels amazingly have just enough wind-blocking properties to keep you warm. It's brilliant how they managed to do that. Warm when it gets cooler and cool when temperatures rise. Brilliant! I've worn nothing better so I bought all three available colors.

Super cool jersey. Breathable material. Form fitting (like most Assos). Also like other Assos, it fit's best when on a bike. For sizing reference, I'm 6' 1" 180lbs and the large is the right fit, but on the snug side.

This is, by far, the best jersey
I like quality cycling clothing. I've tried a lot of brands and typically come back to Assos. This is, by far, the best jersey I've ever owned. It fits like a glove. You never feel wet in it, regardless of how much you perspire. I like the slightly longer sleeves. There is no band at the end of the sleeve and it has a zippered pocket. Until you've tried this jersey, you don't know how good a jersey can be. I purchased five of them!!!

Clean looking and comfy.
I always prefer jerseys without all the advertising and team race markings. I also tend to go for light colors for heat reflection and visibility. While this one is dark, [I bought the red version.] it is surprisingly cool in the Florida summer heat. It does a good job of keeping me comfortable under the conditions we experience here. It also looks nice. The built in base layer works well, but I might prefer a separate base when wearing bibs. [To keep the bib straps from rubbing.] Four stars only because of the price tag. Otherwise, an excellent jersey.

I am 6’, 170 lbs, 32” waist, 43” chest. I wear ss13 XL & it fits perfect, form fitting. Mangusta L too tight to zip, xl a little long in back. I prefer race cut, & always wear a base. I really hate jersey flapping or bunching up in the chest while on the bike. Any ideas on what size?

for a real tight race fit on a very trim person I think the L is your best bet Erik.
