    A fitting tribute.

Many cyclists know the Assos brand and its reputation for crafting the finest fitting cycling clothing available and its attention to sourcing premium and innovative materials. What, or who, many cyclists, even the most devoted Assos fans, aren't aware of is its founder Signor Toni Maier and his contributions to the cycling world. Toni is credited with creating the first carbon bicycle frame, aero tube shapes, the bull-horn bar, an elastic, versus leather chamois, as well as pulling the wool off of the cycling world's eyes with the introduction of the lycra cycling short. Toni studied downhill ski racer's clothing and recognized the aerodynamic and compressive advantages of the material and realized its benefits for cycling. Fast forward to 2016 and Assos celebrates its 40th anniversary. It was inspired to create a fitting tribute to celebrate Toni's contributions to modern cycling with a jersey and thus, the Ss Fortoni Jersey was born.

This limited edition, premium jersey honors Toni and, like the rest of the Assos line maintains clean aesthetics while remaining highly functional so it'll have you looking sharp while experiencing the refined ride. It's a high-performance, short-sleeved, summer jersey that's constructed from the moisture-wicking and quick-drying Dual Tex material. This double yarn textile has an open structure helping with perspiration management and breathability. Furthering its attributes making it ideal for cycling is UPF30 sun protection, and built-in odorControl. Assos cuts the jersey in its regularFit that's body mapped so it's less aggressive than its Racing Fit, perfect for the mid-ride coffee stop, while still offering a great fit on the bike. The front contains a slim, full-length zip that's perfect for dumping heat on long summer climbs.

For the sleeves and side panels, Assos uses a proprietary fine gauge warp-knit textile known as Push Pull. It's well suited for these areas of the jersey as its highly breathable and stretchy and offers UPF 50+ protection. The sleeves receive a raglan design for ease of movement and the seamless raw-cut arms comfortably keep the cuffs in place without excessive pressure. On the rear, Assos utilizes its Triple Ramp concept that optimally positions the rear pockets for ease of access and stability. Internal seams keep the pockets low-profile while still offering plenty of room for food and roadside repairs.

    Great Jersey

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: L
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 180lbs

Great jersey, extremely breathable and fits tight but slightly relaxed in comparison to some of their more race fit items, the quality is very high and this is a great jersey to wear on any ride. I have a larger upper body build and although I like a tighter fit and went with M bibs, I did need to size to a L jersey for my shoulders, neck and pits to feel comfortable. The M could have worked but I felt that a long day in the saddle would prove uncomfortable.
