    LS.skinFoil_winter_s7 Body Insulator

Though its predecessor was damn near perfect, Assos was still able to tease some improvements out of the latest LS.skinFoil_winter_s7 Body Insulator base layer. While the base material remains largely unchanged, a few alterations to certain areas of the base layer make for more comfort and less bulk. The neck, for instance, is now a softer material with better stretch and return qualities so no zipper is necessary. The seamless design of the torso is also stretchy enough to slip on easily, adapt to different body shapes, and move without restriction.

    • A long-sleeve base layer for riding through the harshest winters
    • Neck offers additional coverage and is zipper-free
    • Tubular knit construction offers excellent insulation
    • Breathable and moisture-wicking fabric keeps you warm
    • Item #AAS004P

    Really Warm.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 160lbs

I've worn this down to about 10°F. It does a really good job keeping me warm, especially when layered. I like my base layers skin tight but this is especially tight. I believe I have the right size because it's a little long on me (I don't have much body fat, but I've always been a bit wider than average.) The only real problem I have with the base layer is the stitching in the sleeve. It's a bit loose and can get itchy and my fingers can get caught up in it while putting it on. The wash instructions say not to use fabric softener, but it's a must if you don't want to get itchy. The fabric softener hasn't ruined mine. If they would have just dropped the totally unnecessary graphics on the sleeve, there wouldnt have been any problem.

Inside of sleeve full of loose stitching. Dissatisfaction with quality control here.

    Its Assos.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was surprised by the compression provided by this baselayer. When they say winter they mean winter. So far I have been able to eliminate the jersey layer and just run this with a jacket about down to freezing. I probably wont run this baselayer above 40 degrees. Note to the "runs small" crowd. That's how these things are designed to fit.

    Technological Wonder!

This garment goes on tight but very comfortable. It’s supposed to go on as a second skin and it does. But, never at the cost of comfort. The material is top quality and beautifully designed. It’s a pleasure to wear. It does a outstanding job at managing body temp. I wear it with my Assos IJ.Bonka jacket. I was able to go from wearing three layers for the winter with my old non-Assos gear to just the two for the winter.

It never feels wet when you’re riding but when your done and your take it off it feels like a wet blanket. Which is amazing! It somehow uses body moisture to regulate temp and keep your skin dry. Assos knows their stuff. Even at the premium price I highly recommend it.

Quick update: I've since gone and ordered more, and have been using, all the base layers Assos makes and the flexibility I now have mixing and matching depending on the weather is priceless. The right garment with the right base layer combination is easy to achieve and always right on. So worth it.

I just wanted to add that I Purchased the ASSOS Ij.bonKa.6 MILLE Jacket to wear with this skinfoil layer. They work beautifully efficient together. It’s worth the money. I went from wearing three layers to get warm using other brands in the winter to only two. Everything comes off and the end of the ride really feeling wet, but your skin is dry at the same time. It’s amazing! Clearly, moisture management is the key to the performance of the Assos products. I highly recommended Assos.

Skin tight, supportive, soft, warm, breathable. This is easily the most comfortable piece of clothing I've ever worn, full stop. I purchased extras for non-cycling use (under other clothing, as anyone with more than 10% body fat would look like a stuffed sausage if worn as an outer layer.) I wear it with Assos jerseys and jackets. Once you start to sweat, it passes moisture away from you so fast that you don't even get damp. It is highly stretchy -- I buy size 0 and it's perfect on my 173cm, 68kg frame. Amazing. Magical. Really.

Disclaimer: I define 'perfect' in this case as difficult to put on, but great once it's in place. If this were a normal shirt, I would say that the fit was 'way too tight'.

    Quality Product- exceeds expectations

Love the fit under my ASSOS jacket. It keeps me warm when riding in 40 degree weather. I just wish I could wear it every day. Looks and feels soft and comfortable.

    ASSOS LS SKINFOIL

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Extra Large / Assos Size II
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I find the fit to be excellent my concern is that it does not wick away sweat as well as it should. I have used it extensively in the low 30's to low 50's temperature range in combination with a Castelli Gabba jacket and an Assos iJ Shaq.6 insulator jacket. The skin foil will definitely keep you warm even descending at high speed the problem is if you stop for five minutes for any reason it feels like you have a wet blanket on your back and will maintain this wet feel until you build body heat again. Possibly the problem is the Assos & Gabba jackets are not rear vented very well but I have had the same issue when paired with lighter Assos jerseys and an Assos wind vest

    The One and Only

The most important feature of any base layer is the fit. If the fit is off the whole outfit doesn't work and can wreck a long day in the saddle or on the slopes. I have one winter base-layer and this is it. As soon as I put it on I understood why it'™s twice the cost as some competitors, the fabric was soft and the fit was perfect. Assos has once again made one hell of a piece. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions and/or concerns about fit. Size Purchased, I-S/M.

      Love Assos

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Assos doesn't make anything bad, their stuff is just $$. I really like the winter base layer, it fits snugly and does what its supposed to do. I wear it skiing and hiking as well. 40-60 degrees is the sweet spot.

My new favorite article of clothing

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: L/XL
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 154lbs

Very warm, does well over a wide temperature range. Been riding with it comfortably in weather that starts in the low 50s and drops to high 30s by the end of my ride, paired with just the Assos iJ.Bonka.6 jacket over it. It's very soft, much more comfortable than Assos previous base layers I've owned. I would normally wear a size L; the L/XL fits very snug/skintight, without being too tight. The sleeves are also very long but not an issue.
