    A legend is born.

When something is first launched at Assos, you know to expect something that shatters molds — even those set by Assos itself. Such is the case with the iJ.intermediate_s7. Is it a jacket, or is it a jersey? Well, it's kind of both, but Assos simply calls it "intermediate."

The list of work that went into the iJ.intermediate_s7 reads more like the demands of a lunatic fashionista than a jersey — 17 patterns, 14 components, and six different textiles. Now, we're not saying that quantities alone make the intermediate exceptional. It's Assos' technical design prowess and proprietary fabrics that bring the iJ.intermediate_s7 to fruition. Starting with the materials themselves, Assos spared no expense in placing the perfect fabric at the ideal location.

The front panel is comprised of the windproof stratagonUltra airBlock fabric. This material protects the torso from icy winds while providing ample stretch for movement. Additionally, its low volume makes it highly breathable for thermo-regulation. For the sides and rear panel, Assos used its new ASSOS Type.v X121 summer textile. Why a summer-weight material on a cold weather jersey? Easy — speed. Your sides and back are the focal points of ventilation, meaning that heat escapes at these regions. And according to Assos, this material dries 34% faster than prior iterations. So your internal temperature will remain consistent, and your skin will stay dry. The top of the arms use a lightweight, low-volume insulation fleece that conforms to your contours. Working as a cohesive unit, the materials keep you dry, protected, insulated, and unrestricted. However, this would all mean nothing without Assos' signature, precision fit.

Combining what Assos calls its Advanced Ergonomic Pattern Design (AEPD) racing cut with its cycling-specific body-mapping pattern design, the iJ.intermediate_s7 benefits from the most thought-out design process in the business. Assos is the first to tell you that high-end materials mean nothing if the cut is bad. That's why it's spent a maddening amount of time on two points of study — how the body is shaped, and how it changes throughout the movements of cycling. Accordingly, the AEPD cut is made for the shape of cycling, not standing (just a little something to remember when you try it on). With the iJ.intermediate_s7, the cut greets the contours of your body and adds a slight compression to aid in muscle recovery and stabilization. It's worth noting that AEPD achieves this without adding a sensation of pressure. Further along these lines, the cuffs use a no-pressure closure system that Assos calls WristWrap. To achieve this gentle grip, Assos integrated them with the fabric of the sleeves instead of placing them inside the hem. Altogether, the characteristics of AEPD literally make the jersey 'click' into place for the ultimate in cycling fit.

For storage, Assos provided three ample rear pockets with a zippered center pocket. The zip pocket has also been given a membrane casing for added water-resistance. Other features of the iJ.intermediate_s7 include a windproof collar and a full-length zipper with upper-flap protection.

The Assos iJ.intermediate_s7 Jersey - Long-Sleeve - Men's is available in six sizes from Small to TIR and in the colors Black Volkanga, Blue Calypso, Red Swiss, and White Panther.

    Amazing jersey, my new favorite

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 136lbs

I loved my Intermediate EVO, but this jersey has become my favorite, go to jersey for spring/fall rides. The wind proof front is amazing, the sleeve length is spot on (the sleeves were too long on the EVO), and the fit is usual Assos (fit and snug, not tight). I wore this with an Assos spring baselayer this weekend with temps around 50, and was comfortable for the duration of the ride. I wear a medium in all my Assos (with the exception of the Mille cut) and this was no exception. I love the cuffs as well, not tight but not loose either. I just received the MilleIntermediate today so will give that a try and see how it compares to the ij.Intermediate.

Perfect for spring and fall rides!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought this for my boyfriend and he really likes it. He usually wears a small or medium in most brands and the small fits him well but really snug (which is how he likes kits to fit). That being said, if you are looking for more of a relaxed fit, I would recommend sizing up. Temp range he would wear it in is about 45-60.

    Some features he really likes:

    -High neckline when zipped up

    -nice windstopper fabric

-double sewn stitching on rear pockets which prevents from sagging when jersey pockets are packed with snacks

Overall a rad jersey that is nice and breathable for doing harder efforts but keeps you warm for those chilly rides in early spring and late fall!

below is a photo of the jersey in action to give you an idea of the fit.

Perfect for spring and fall rides!

    Perfect for 45-60 Degrees

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 165lbs

I tend to run warm but this jersey/jacket has the right balance of front wind protection and breathability for me. I use a long sleeve base layer (ASSOS) and feel comfortable down to 45 degrees. The fit is "snuggish" so I bought a large. I wear a large Mangussta too.

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: small

The jersey does its job very well in temps from 45 to 65, wind protection is good and keeps from oversweating.
Unfortunately there is a big drawback: the internal front panel of the jacket is made by a sort of black corduroy, after your training/race your base layer (and bibs too) gets black in the chest area and it does not go away after washing it: clear base layers are permanently ruined! Did I get a defective unit???
Usually Assos is known for the good quality so what happened is unexpected and unacceptable.

Runs small- compared to Assos jackets

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small

I have a few other assos pieces and normal @ 6'- 173-168lbs 33 waist & I wear a large. I'm not skinny but not fat- wear a medium t shirt- 39-41 jacket but this is a pro fit. Shortish in front- tight chest & gut. Large was too tight to wear with any undergarment, maybe it would have stretched but don't want to fight the fit to inhale and with anything in the pockets, it was a struggle. Zipper was ready to pop & did when I was wearing to try on w/thin base layer. Ordered the ex large and still snug in front - a little loose in the back but when pockets loaded & on hoods -dialed in. However, I see reviewers report true to size- for me struggling with the front zipper & too much stretch to fit means go up a size - Recommended temp range of 50-72F seems right. Might recommend undershirt for that lower range and with the X-lrg & long sleeve mesh shirt, It all works down to 45ish, if your pumping. Expertly made and a great spring piece- very light and surprisingly warm, nothing else really performs on the hills & descents as well in the cool shoulder seasons.

It actually is worth the money

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a *much* better jersey for mountains in the cool weather than any previous version. I have a lot of clothes that have some wind protection, but this is by far the best. I especially like the choice of fabrics on the upper arms and the back. I climb for an hour with comfort, and then descend a few thousand feet with equal comfort. THAT makes this jersey worth the cost.

I wear it under a layer on very cold days, when the outside temp is in the lower 40s or 30s. For the worst days, I use an Assos winter layer under it, and a jacket over it. I get exactly what I want, comfort while climbing and comfort while descending.

For a ride where there is going to be wind, this is worth the money.

I am 6'3", 170 pounds in the winter, and this fits just fine. And I happen to think that it looks great, but that really is secondary.

    Great Jersey

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL----in Assos-speak
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 165lbs

Fits like any other Assos product. The perfect jersey for those cool Fall days....not a jacket, but more than the standard Summer jersey. Wind block up front keeps you warm, with enough ventilation to prevent over-heating. Ideally worn with a long sleeve base layer.

    Unquestionably the best.

This is an amazing spring/fall/winter jersey. The fit is perfect. I'm 5'9 150-155 and wear a medium. i have used this jersey down into the 30's with a light base and was cool but not uncomfortable. Pair this jersey with the Assos thermal vest and a good base layer and you can use this for most of the winter. 20's may require a jacket but this jersey is very versatile and worth money.

With Assos, yes, the pricing (and often the marketing) is over the top. But... no one, and I mean no one, in cycling designs and manufactures cycling clothing quite like Assos. The sophistication of the textiles (especially) and the construction -is- beyond what anyone else is doing.

Amazing textiles, contoured fit, and performance. Fantastic looks (in this piece).

When you pick up the Assos Int s7 jersey it feels surprising light. And it is. This is a light long-sleeve jersey but with a special wind-blocking (yet breathable) textile in the front torso (stratagon fabric). It's like a built-in vest. Brilliant. It works great to keep your core warm during cool weather riding.

The rest of the jersey (especially the back) is very well ventilated. So, this piece provides excellent performance for high-tempo riding in the Spring and Fall.

*This is the deal about Assos fit and sizing. Assos is famous for their anatomic fit system that they call AEPD. Whatever. In short, this means when you first put the jersey on, it will definitely feel tight in the front shoulders (and a bit loose in the back of the shoulders), while the arms will seem a touch long. But once you get into position on your bike, the fit of the jersey will "click" into place.

Fit: I'm 5'10" and 180. The size L fit me like a glove. Perfect; both in the arm length and the body length, front & back. Snug in the abdomen as it is meant to be for aerodynamics and no drag.

No more cool weather, sweaty rides.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The fit is what you've come to know from Assos, i.e., feels a bit wonky until you get on the bike, then it's like magic. The cut is athletic, which, if you've been riding seriously, is a good thing. I hate loose fabric flapping in the breeze. I'm 5'8" @145 with a 38 chest and 29 waist wearing a medium. Normally, in most other brands, I wear a small. The medium would be good up to about 5'10" with chest less than 40.

Our winters in North Carolina are mild. We do a lot of riding in 40-58 degree weather. Riding a lot of upper zone 2, lower zone 3, I had had a lot of trouble being warm for the first 30 minutes of my ride, then I'd be sweating and overheated during the belly of my ride, only to be wet and shivering during my warm-down. The Assos Intermediate jersey solved this problem for me. I wear it with a long-sleeved compression tee from about 40-46 degrees, with a short-sleeved compression tee from 47-52, and with a tank top compression tee from 50-58 degrees. I'm remarkably dry when I get home, so no shivering during the last few miles of my ride. In the past I'd almost always wear a jacket on all rides below 55 degrees, but now I don't even consider one unless I'm riding in the 20's and 30's.

The garment is incredibly lightweight. The zip is outstanding (I use it to regulate if I get too hot). The neck guard is soft and comfortable. I almost always start my ride with it fully-zipped, then zip it down according to the temp/wind once I'm warm.

My only criticism is that the back pockets are a bit saggy and loose, but that may be a function of my slim waist... There is a forth zipped pocket on top of the middle pocket. It's good for car keys and a credit card, but it's not big enough for my iPhone.

All in all, this has been a paradigm shift for my late fall/winter riding. No more heavy, sweaty, loose-fitting jackets for me.

Is this jersey good for weather ranging from 50 to 67 in one day? I tend to run hot and sweat easily. Should I wear with summer or hot summer skinfoil with it?
