Not giving me $55 of warmth!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit:
- True to size
For cold cold days in the mid 20F range, I was looking for something warmer than my trusty old Gore Bike Wear Windstopper Beanie. Balaclavas tend to fog up my (prescription) glasses, so a warmer cap seemed my best option. The Assos name, its miracle fabrics, and the expensive price suggested this might be a lot warmer. When it arrived, the material didn't seem thicker than my Gore, whose brushed fleece interior makes me think it's the thermal version. I tried the Assos on a 25F day: it didn't do the job. Luckily, I had a Castelli "Thingy" in my jersey pocket. Donning that over the Assos kept me just warm enough, and the opening of the Thingy is large enough to keep my glasses from fogging. As the temp rose, I removed the Thingy, only to discover that the Assos' ear flaps don't fit snugly despite my head being large, and wind flows under them, which does not happen with the Gore. So back it goes. I ordered a new Gore Wear Thermo Windstopper Beanie and will bring the Thingy along as a backup.

Great Winter Hat
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:
- True to size
- Size Bought
- II
- Height
- 6` 4"
- Weight
- 180 lbs
This is my second winter with this hat. It is absolutely amazing. Truly the best hat that I have ever worn for keeping me warm. I didn't plan to write this review, but I saw the two 1 star reviews and had to counter them. I have an 61 cm head (fairly substantial) and it fits perfectly. It also stretches so it could fit a head larger than mine.

Too small for even my 10year old 65lbs daughter. We have to return it. Its a super small size.

For tiny heads
- Fit:
- Runs small
This cap is absolutely tiny. I wear a medium helmet and this won’t stretch enough to even start over my head

There’s several sizes depending on your head circumference, maybe try exchanging for a larger size?

I have had the same issues with some other winter caps so thanks for your review, it tells me this isn’t the cap for me. Overpriced too.
