Asolo TPS 535 Boot

On past Asolo boots the leather uppers outlast the sole. I purchased a new pair and after 12 days the shoe lace rivetted grommet broke off. Hopefully they will replace the boot under warranty. This is the first time this has happened. I'll follow up.

What happened with your boot? Did warranty cover the repair, or did they send a new set?

I wear these 5-6 days a week as work boots. I'm a tree climber, which is rough on boots, especially the sides from standing in crotches. I tried this Asolo design at the recommendation of a coworker. They lasted a year before I wore through the sole. The upper is still fine. Too bad the rubber on the sole isn't thicker. The heel lugs aren't solid rubber; there is midsole foam inside them. Front tread was worn fairly sooth by then anyhow. These are one of the few non-GoreTex/eVent boots on the market that are sturdy enough for heavy work. They are cool enough to wear in the summer since they don't have a waterproof membrane, which is the main selling point for me, along with the quality leather upper. Hooks and laces held up and say tied. Never had any delamination problem like other reviews out there on these boots. Lining is durable. I replaced the footbeds with Superfeet greens. Never got a blister when I went hiking in them. They run a hair large. I'm a 12.5 and the 12 fit perfectly even with thick socks. They also fit my narrow B width feet perfectly.

Absolutely love these boots. They took a couple weeks to break in but sizing is right on. I've worn them pretty much daily for the last two years and am finally wearing through the soles; I plan to have them re-soled by one of the recommended repair shops. I keep them flexible with neatsfoot oil, and replaced the laces with Kevlar ones from KG Boot Guard, which work very well with these boots, and they stay tied all day without double knots. The toe does separate at the leather/sole interface, but I didn't notice any moisture getting in. I did end up dabbing a little shoe glue in there, just in case.

My last two pairs of boots were the vasque ericksson GTX boot. I wore them for work everyday. I am on my feet all day. These are great boots and super comfortable. I get two years of use out of a pair. My only complaint was that the boot would pull apart where the rubber and leather is glued at the toe box. This would happen at the end of the boots life though. Asolo boot is very lite weight . Its comfortable, provides a steady platform and laces nicely around the ankle. I have worked in them for a couple months and have hiked in the boot. The boot is comfortable with little break in time needed. The boot sole is very stiff and doesn't have much flex. The sole is stiffer than I would like it to be but it wouldn't make me not buy the boot again. The vasque boot sole was more flexible. Overall, the Asolo 535 is a nice boot and great out of the box.

I don't think this boot has goretex....Does it?

They do not, but that's a good thing in my opinion.
