    Great Boots!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I work as a field forester and am currently on my second pair of these boots. The first pair was purchased in 2012 and I bought the second pair in 2016. The first pair is still in use ( albeit with not much sole left and seams coming undone) and the second pair is nicely broken in and earning their keep. These boots are plenty supportive while being flexible and comfortable once properly broken in. Water resistance is awesome, even in my worn out 520's I have no leaks if I am working in the rain or shallow water crossings. In both pairs are Superfeet insoles- these are the best I have used.

From my experience, the key to survival of any leather product is proper care. I use Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP and it works great. Aside from my White's, these are easily the best pair of boots I have had. We shall see how the "Evo" version of this boot holds up, but the original version has held up great. You cant go wrong with the TPS 520.

    Great Boots!

    Worst boots ever! Horrible quality!

These are the worst hiking boots I’ve ever had. I bought them 6 months ago and have put less than 100 miles on them (which is nothing in my line of work). The soles have already completely delaminated and rotted away to the point where I can fit my entire hand between the sole and the boot. After contacting Asolo, they told me that the boots were no longer under warranty (which is a 2 year warranty) and that the soles were delaminating “due to their age.” In addition, they would do a one-time repair at my expense, plus shipping AND a cleaning fee. I will never buy Asolo boots again. They are terrible quality, they do NOT stand behind their products, and they do NOT value about their customers or their service.

    Tough, Supportive, and Comfortable

I've had my boots for two years now and have put quite a few miles on them, from dirt and mud to loose gravel and shale and large rocks. They took a few weeks to break-in, and I changed out the insoles, but I love them now. They seem bomb-proof and will handle anything you throw at them. Easy to put on and take off. I particularly lovr the ankle support, which has saved me from rolling an ankle many times. I have a bum ankle from an old injury, but feel very safe in these. I'm usually a size 12 in shoes and boots and that's what I bought in these. I have a wider foot, but the regular width are fine. I wear them with a Darn Tough wool socks, and they are snug, but very comfortable. The Goretex liner keeps them waterproof but not hot in dry, hot weather. I live in LA and have never had a problem with hot feet, and I generally sweat a lot. I think they look amazing, too. I maintain them with Nikwax cleaner and conditioner and they look almost new, even with some scuffs on the toes. I have had to replace the laces, but that was due to having a kitten in the house.

One issue you will read about is sole delamination. These are the newer Evo model, which have resigned soles. From what I've read, Asolo has greatly improved the delamination issue, which is good because these are not cheap! I would still be careful about not storing them in a hot trunk, and stay away from leather conditioners like Obenafs, etc. Nikwax is the way to go. I've read that the delam problem is a lot better now, but I guess nothing is perfect and it could still happen. I'm not worried.

After two years, I'm very happy with the boots and would buy another pair when and if I wear these out. Great boots!
