Rip and Grip.

Get the support and cushion you've come to love from your Asics road running shoes with the combined tenacity of an iron claw in the Women's GT-2000 5 Trail Running Shoe. Delivering substantial support and comfort for runners who overpronate, the GT-2000 5 Trail Running Shoe touts the same dependable features and 10mm drop as the road running edition, but with a bit more bite.

Much like its younger sibling, this trail running shoe has a ComforDry sockliner and last that wicks away moisture and dries quickly to assure that you stay comfortable when you're slogging through an uphill section or a straightaway. This shoe is fashioned with a redesigned midfoot system for better support during overpronation, while the new Heel Clutching System locks down your heel for a snug fit that prevents heel lift and stress on your foot. Though, in keeping with the original, the GT-2000 5 has a plethora of midsole technologies to keep you coming back mile after mile. The Impact Guidance System enhances your natural gait, and the Dynamic DuoMax support system delivers lightweight platform support. Meanwhile, the FluidRide midsole attenuates shock and provides energy propulsion throughout your transitions, and the rear and forefoot Gel Cushioning System bolster shock absorption throughout the toe-off and heel strike phases.

Soft and comfortable shoe

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 6'0"

I have only had these shoes for a few days and have initial impressions. The shoes provide a very cushioned insole. With each step, you can feel the comfort and softness of the insole. I do have a concern that the gel may wear pretty quick as I can feel my heel sink with each strike. The tongue of the shoe is actually a fleece/soft fabric that hugs the top of the foot quite well. The toe box feels a little tighter than other Asics shoes but not enough to cause pain or discomfort. The colors are pretty great and bright. The tread seems pretty durable and strong. Overall, I'm impressed so far by the shoe. We'll see how it holds up on a 5 day backpacking trip.

Always reliable Asics

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 8
  • Height: 5'6"
  • Weight: 116lbs

I've got a high arch, narrow foot, size 8 and I've always loved Asics road shoes. So, I finally stepped away from some other trail running shoe brands and gave these a try. They are great! Super comfortable, just right amount of cushion. Soaked em running through a creek recently, stayed comfortable, no blisters. Good grip!

Solid running shoe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 9.5
  • Height: 5'6"
  • Weight: 145lbs

If you are accustomed to the Asics 2100 series road you this is a good trail shoe for you. Good support, excellent traction, nice fabrics. Minimal break in time with these shoes. Keeps the dirt out unlike a road shoe. They aren't the flashiest or most exciting to look at but they get the job done.

Favorite Asics shoes!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

If you are an over-pronator like myself, you have to try these shoes! I've been wearing them for years and haven't been able to consider another pair. When the time came to upgrade, I was more than willing to wait for these to come back in stock! They fit true to size and don't take very much time at all to break in!
