Tackle The Trails.

Designed to tackle trails of all kinds, the Asics Men's GT-2000 5 Trail Running Shoe provides unimpeded performance, without forcing you to forgo support in favor of traction. The GT-2000 5 Trail Running shoe combines the plush comfort of the road running edition (as well as the 10mm drop and pronation stability), but with a bit more tread to assure ample grip and rip in all sorts of terrain.

Much like the road running edition, this trail running shoe touts a ComforDry sockliner and last that wicks away moisture and dries quickly to assure that you stay comfortable when you're slogging up a hill or through a straightaway. Additionally, this shoe is fashioned with a redesigned midfoot system for better support during overpronation, while the new Heel Clutching System locks down your heel for a snug fit to prevent heel lift and stress on your foot. Not to mention, the GT-2000 5 has multiple midsole technologies to keep you coming back for more, hill after hill. The Impact Guidance System enhances your natural gait, and the Dynamic DuoMax support system delivers lightweight platform support. The FluidRide midsole attenuates shock and provides energy propulsion throughout your transitions, and the rear and forefoot Gel Cushioning System bolster shock absorption throughout the toe-off and heel strike phases.

Great shoes

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 10.5
  • Height: 6'2"
  • Weight: 184lbs

They run just a bit small in size, so I got a 10.5 and use it with thin socks rather than thicker ones. Comparing it against the previous GTs, they added some cushion around the ankle which is a great improvement. The previous ones caused a bit of friction if you were wearing low cut socks.

Besides that, this shoe is great. I think it's my favorite one. Lots of technology guarantee comfort, they are very durable. I'm glad I got these.

Asics GT-2000

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Size Bought: 11.5
  • Height: 6'1"
  • Weight: 175lbs

I started competitively running x country in middle school. From there my feet carried me into a number of sports like soccer, track & field, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, and crew. As a very competitive individual I have used brands like Mizuno, Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Merrell, etc. I love Asics because of the comfort and stability the brand offers.

This shoe is great if you keep to roads and trails. I love the mesh upper material as my feet breathe great and the heel clutch system works wonders in terms of comfort, stability, and preventing heal lift.

I would recommend this shoe for any age and any activity. Whether you are hitting the trails hard, going for a walk in the park, or taking the dog around the block a few times this shoe will meet and exceed your expectations.

Trail, Not Mountain Trail

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Height: 5'11"
  • Weight: 155lbs

Everything you would expect from ASICS in regard to the quality and comfort, just didn't appear to have enough traction for descending steep, rocky trails. They seem to be better suited for maintained dirt/gravel trails, not so much for the mountains.

Trail + Road = Everything

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Height: 5'7"
  • Weight: 130lbs

If you run some on the road and some on the trail but want one shoe to do it all, this is the shoe to do it in. I love that this shoe has a little bit more traction than normal road shoes but still has all the comfort and smoothness of a road shoe. Plus, the price, you can't beat it!
