    Versatile, year-round gear hauler.

From hikes in the summer to ski tours in the backcountry, the Arva Explorer 26 Backpack offers rugged gear transport and a comfortable fit. Designed to carry its load close to the back, this light and functional bag offers enough storage space to carry everything you need for a full day in the mountains. The hip belt and shoulder straps are shaped to fit anatomically, so you won't feel the weight of the pack pulling you around while you ride, and they are both adjustable to ensure a comfortable fit. Access to your ice axe and shovel is easy with a quick-access pocket. Side straps carry skis in an A-frame and can be removed for warm-weather use. A hydration-compatible sleeve keeps water close at hand so you won't become dehydrated.

    Good Pack for Short Tours

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really like this pack for quick tours in the morning before work, but not for all day tours and that is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. I thought 26L would be a great size, and it is, I just find myself needing more space when I'm trying to bring lunch, more water and possibly an additional layer too.

There's plenty of room for your probe and shovel and even a hydration reservoir if you want to add that in too. There's an additional smaller pocket inside the front larger one for goggles, and a small exterior pocket near the top that I like to keep my headlamp/sunglasses/sunscreen in. The net on the very outside of the pack does a great job keeping my helmet in place on the hike up, I just found it to be a little tricky to get my helmet into it initially because the fabric doesn't stretch a whole lot (heads up). The material that lines the pack between the different compartments is a little thin and I've already had issues with it tearing. The ski carries on the side of the pack are super easy to use and keep the skis in place while walking, which I was really stoked about when having to move with all my gear plus my dog on a leash. Skiing down is easy with the hip and chest straps, in addition to the shoulder straps, that adjust easily to keep the pack in place (the straps have a built in whistle too).

Overall I think it's a good backpack for those just getting in to touring that may not be going for long periods of time or may not being carrying much with them. For reference in the photo, I'm 5'6" 135 lbs., if that helps with getting an idea of the size.
